  1. Hi Ron.. I'd run it by your HS dealer to be sure, but it sounds perfectly normal to me. We have the HS Sovereign and the circulating pump and Ozonator bubbles are always making a slight gurgling noise when the jets are not on. I've never thought it to be annoying, though ...
  2. Yikes! That's quite a ways. We moved a Sovereign HS spa to our new home (10 miles) in October last year .. we had Hot Springs move it . I know most Movers don't move spas. How big is it? If manageable you'd be best off moving it yourself if it can travel flat in a truck (with a lift) and you're careful. The 3 HS guys moved it on its side .. onto a dolly.. and rolled it (carefully) to the truck lift. He kept a pc of cardboard handy in front in to help it roll easier, and in case they needed to tip the tub a bit onto the ground to turn or adjust. It did not get scratched and works great. Good luck.. I hope you manage to find a mover or move it yourself OK.
  3. I agree with Altazi, to look into all the things he mentioned. Also to wet test it would be great! Make sure the water is clean, shell taken care of .. it sounds good, etc, too. Ask what their water maintenance was .. how often they changed the water, etc. But the price you mention is a great deal and you'd love the Prodigy tub. We have a Sovereign HS and have been sooo happy with it. (8 yrs) Used HS usually sell pretty quick in the paper around here. Good luck!
  4. I don't think you should even be concerned about the water bill - it's minimal, really. We use the ozonator and keeping the water balanced (350 gal. HS Sovereign 7 yrs old) is very easy. The chemicals you mentioned is about it - non chlorine shock - use according to brand/size recommendation - and then ph and alkalinity up or down, as needed. I add 1 TB chlorine granules wkly also - along with the MetalX or Stain & Scale out weekly or as directed also. But our water is high in iron, etc. Once you get used to it all, and get to know what your spa water needs, it's very easy, promise Your local dealer should be able to help you with understanding things better. And changing the water is not a big deal either, really. ... as stated earlier.. very well worth it Enjoy your spa, try not to worry too much.
  5. Hi! This is what they call "Scale" and has to do with minerals in your water. We have this problems as well, IF we don't regularly add a "Stain and Scale" prevention solution. (follow the directions on the bottle, but we add 1 ounce- once per week) It helps prevent scale formation on spa surfaces, heaters, and piping. It also prevents stains caused by iron, copper and manganese in your water. Just ask a dealer near you about it .. they'll steer you in the right direction. Good luck!
  6. Hi Jackie - We own a Hotspring Sovereign (altho an older model) and we have the box you're talking about 10 ft from the tub. I hope that helps happy spa-ing!
  7. Hi Jackie - We had our HS tub moved by the Hot Springs people last November - it took them a little over an hour total time - about 10 miles total distance - and it cost us $350. The movers we talked with didn't want to touch it - but I hear that some will move them for a fee.... But we felt better having our hot tub dealer move it. I'd keep checking around ... and good luck!
  8. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will answer you, but I'm sure there's a Reset button of some sort for the heater. Take a close look to where the heater is located and see if you can locate a reset button. That should take care of things! The same thing happens to us at times. Good luck!
  9. I totally agree that you should not have been charged for the second repair. Did you alert the local HS about the foam not being replaced? Sometimes, unfortunately, it takes (in my experience) talking to a few people at the local HS to get things taken care of properly - I hope you've not let too much time pass since the warranty was up. I'd definitely talk to them again, and also write the Hot Spring's Customer Service (HS website) and explain the situation fully - see if they can help. Good Luck!
  10. Why not go to the HS website and ask their tech support? They're usually pretty fast at answering email questions. They do have an 800 # also, I believe. Good luck!
  11. I won't know for awhile... I'm in Green Bay and it's still quite cold here I may have to wait another month or so before fixing it. But I will surely let you know The good news is that drilling the small hole at the point of each 3+" crack has stopped them from continuing. Hope it ikeeps working! Thanks!
  12. Thanks to both replies! Hot Springs is going to come give an estimate to fix it. They also sell a product to fix it ourselves - $82.50. So we'll see which we choose. Will post the result here, when finished. We do, however, have to wait until the weather warms up to fix it. I believe it has to be above 50*. The shell is not leaking - luckily both cracks are on the lip of the tub... from the edge (which wraps around over the top of the wood base) and is approx 3.5" long... gaping at times to a good 1/8" wide at the start of the crack.. and ending on the top ledge of the tub, where we drilled the holes to stop the cracks. We sure hope this will be successful Thanks again
  13. Hi everyone .. I'm new to this site - so forgive me if you've covered this topic already. We've had a Hot Springs Sovereign tub for 8 years since it was new. (it's outside in Green Bay, WI) .. Have been pretty happy with it .. however we did have a few issues that were fixed under the warranty. (heater, circ pump, jet repair, leaks). Wouldn't you know, one year past warranty we have two somewhat large cracks on the lip of the tub.. approx 3.5" long. We've drilled small holes, as instructed, to stop the cracks.. but now ... what product will do the best repair/filler job? Does anyone have experience with repairing the Endurol shell, which is the hard white thermoplastic? I'd love to hear from you. ... any info would be appreciated. We're hoping to get a few more years out of this tub before replacing Thanks!
