Hot Spring Vanguard - 1 Vs. 2 Jet Pumps

Recommended Posts

I am new to posting here, but have found some great info on these forums, so hoping to get some feedback here.

My husband and I saw 3 Vanguard tubs today in our area - a 2003 (V) 2004 (V) and a 2007 (VV). They all are in great shape and seem to have been maintained well (as far as I can tell. and I've done my homework on buying a used tub). But the 2007 is a V V model - it has 2 jet pumps while the '03 and '04 only have 1 jet pump.

The main users for this tub will be me and my husband (although we do have 2 young boys who will probably use it as a small "pool" in summer). I'm wondering how many of you have experience with 1 vs. 2 jet pumps, and if it is a big enough difference to consider in our decision of which tub to go with (cost differences aside, for now). I will say that the water pressure felt stronger to me right off the bat in the tub with 2 pumps - although I don't remember if we had both jet pumps running, or just one..we toggled back and forth with all the valves and diverter so many times.

Is there a significant cost difference between running a 1 and 2 jet pump tub? Is the water pressure much greater (even when running just 1 pump), and is having the choice of running 2 pumps at the same time (for all seats in the spa) a great enough advantage, to consider paying more for the 2-pump tub? Or is it totally personal preference - as so many things are in the hot tub world :) Just wondering about the biggest advantage to having 2 pumps. Thanks!

ok, thank you :) I have read from several reviews online where users say the dual/DX moto jet is like a totally different massage from the single moto jet. I was a little disappointed with the single jets, but the shoulder jets and other jets around the spa made up for it. I will say this - when I wet tested the floor model (2014 Vanguard, with 2 dual DX moto jets) for 15 minutes with my husband, and then left the showroom, my body felt like jello - I was so completely relaxed on the ride home, and it seemed equivalent to having a real massage, but even better - because sometimes good body massages can hurt!

Has anyone out there owned a later model Vanguard, and now have the DX moto jets, and what do you think? Is it totally worth the money (for a newer used model Vanguard, vs. older one in great condition, with no DX moto jets?).
