  1. Hi All, I need to drain my new Sundance Optima soon. The tub is recessed about 18" into my deck. There's a fast drain plug with a large hose I'd like to use so I can do it fairly quickly. Here's the problem. This hose will have to come up and over my deck so once the water drains down to the level of my deck it will stop flowing. What kind of pump can I use to get the water flowing again (through this large hose) once it reaches this level and how would it work? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  2. Thanks for the ideas. That Great Stuff does look awfully messy. I'm going to look at readjusting them if they can just be re-screwed. I'm also considering weatherstripping or an adhesive backedstrip of insulation if I can find something that's suitable.
  3. I had my Optima installed yesterday. Last night in the dark with the inside led lights on, I could see light coming out around the perimeter of the tub in 4 or 5 places. It was coming out between the top of the removable sides and the hot tub shell (where they meet). This can't be a good thing as these spaces let cold air in which I'm presuming will drive up my heating costs. How many of you Sundance owners have this same issue and what have you (or could you) done to correct it? Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. I bought a Sundance Optima tub and a Covana which wil be installed next week on a 10' X 10' cement pad. I'm then going to have a new deck built which will wrap around the tub (the tub (& Covana) will be recessed about halfway into the deck). I'm having figuring out a good design for access to the hot tub panels. I was originally just going to have an access panel for the front of the tub so you could access the motor and drain plug etc.. In talking to my dealer he said that one thing that might have a tendency to need replacing from time to time would be the led lights inside the tub. And he said if a light needs to be replace you have to have access to all panels depending on which light needs to be replaced. He told me that you can't replace the lights from inside the tub but that you have to remove the panel(s) to get at them. If this is correct then I'll need access panels on all 4 sides of the tub. If that's the case, here's the question: The optima tub is 7.5' X 7.5' - how long and wide do we have to make these 4 access panels so that a technician can fix things? Any and all ideas and suggestions would be really appreciated! (Any Optima owners out there that have recessed their tub?) Anyone have pictures of how they did theirs? Thanks!!
  5. Also, my tub will be recessed into my deck so no one would be stepping on the cement pad to get in or out of the tub. That being the case is ground bonding necessary?
  6. What's involved in "ground bonding"?
  7. Hi all, I'm having a 4" cement pad done in my backyard. I bought a Sundance Optima and a Covana to go over it. Does the cement pad need to be reinforced? If so, how? Also my backyard has a 1% grade. Does that mean that the pad will automatically have the same 1% grade or do they have to pour it with a very slight incline so water will drain off of it. How does that work? Thanks in advance.
  8. I'm buying a Sundance Optima without a radio. Show me pics of what your using for non factory outdoor sound systems for your hot tub. If no pic please describe what your using and how it performs. If you're using wireless speakers I'd be interested in what they are and how well they work. I'm leaning towards wireless but the signal will have to travel through a brick wall.
  9. What should I watch out for if I'm looking at possibly buying a floor model?
  10. I'm more concerned with how hard it would be for a decking company to install the deck if the tub AND Covana top go in first. As mentioned my preference is IPE wood for the deck which I've read is hard to work with. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?
  11. Thanks njmurvin Can anyone tell me if the tub should be installed before the deck is built?
  12. Hi all, Hot tub newbie here and I'm going to be posting a few questions as I need your expertise (I'm just in the planning stages). Planning on new ipe deck and a new hot tub which will be partially recessed (maybe half the height of the tub) into the deck. I'm also planning on buying a Covana automatic cover lifter. What goes in first - the deck or the hot tub and cover lifter?? I'm planning on a concrete based to support the hot tub and the Covana. Is it best to install everything first and then build the ipe deck around it or vice versa? I'll be hiring a deck company but they're away for a couple of weeks so I can't ask them. Thanks in advance for any advice!
