  1. I purchased a Sunrise spa in July 1995. The spa was great, all I had to do was replace a few jets and the bearings in the pump. Last year I upgraded to a Jacuzzi 470, but my Sunrise is still in daily use (I sold it to a friend). I would have no hesitations buying a Sunrise spa, it's a solid, quality tub. Like others have said, test them out (preferably wet test) and got with the most comfortable.
  2. I purchased a new Jacuzzi J470 last September. It has been an amazing purchase, absolutely NO regrets whatsoever. I have the JBL stereo and it has performed perfectly. There is a huge difference between the stereos in the J300 vs J400 series... and yes the 300 series do underwhelm. Everyone will have a different idea as to what its worth, I'm just saying I'm very happy with it. My opinion, the 400 series is a big step up and comfort, the RX jets are fabulous. It's a very room and great spa for visiting with friends and family. I paid around $12,900 CAD for tub with stereo, 48" synthetic steps, cover, lifter, startup chemicals, delivery, install & electric hookup. I decided for myself it was worth the extra to go "top end" quality product. This spa should last many, many years, and a few thousand dollars extra now, over the life of the tub is only a few hundred per year, or equivalent of one night out on the town per year... Good luck in your negotiations, if you're comfortable with the spa...buy it!
  3. Hi JeffinWhitby, I think the price they're offering is fair. I was shopping for a new Optima last summer and the best deal I could get was around $11,800. CDN (Winnipeg) plus $1295 for the JBL stereo. I ultimately went with Jacuzzi (no regrets) but the Optima was right up there for me too. It was a tough decision, but came down to me being more comfortable with the Jacuzzi dealer. Optima is a great tub....Buy it!!
  4. Jacuzzi - Opal with Silverwood Cabinet - Love it!
  5. Hey Roger, have you dug out from that snow storm? I imagine it was a pretty miserable few days for you guys. We just got the edge of that system and it dumped a foot of snow in some areas! I just finished digging out my hot tub, going for a soak now, it's a beautiful day out today. Sorry it's off topic...
  6. I would say WAIT. Our local dealer actually discourages people from buying it....too many problems... which is work for them and frustration for you. Once the reliability is there, by all means you can add it anytime.
  7. I guess I'll give our local Arctic dealer credit....they VERY strongly discourage buyers from purchasing the Onzen, actually telling buyers to wait, it can be added to existing tubs later, once the kinks are worked out. Makes sense for them since the repairs/warranty for the dealer is time consuming and costly, and the buyer ends up frustrated with having the problems with a $15-$20,000 tub within a short time.
  8. General consensus is (in no particular order): Jacuzzi, Hot Spring, D1, Sundance, Caldera, Arctic, and others I'm sure. I guess, it depends what you have available locally. For me, it was Jacuzzi, Sundance, Bullfrog, Beachcomber, Artesian, Arctic, Coast & Master. I decided on Jacuzzi because I am very impressed with the dealer, and the tub itself is awesome! Sounds like you've made the time and money commitment to your Maax spa now, it will probably do you well for several years now. If I were you, I wouldn't run out and buy a new one just yet.
  9. Congratulations on purchase! A hot tub will be your new best friend. There is nothing better when you get back from a fire call and you're chilled to the bone, than jumping in the tub. As far as the jumpers go, the dealer will do that when they install. Keep us posted!
  10. Being a volunteer FF doesn't mean you are "not professional". I'm fortunate to be career now after 13 years as a volunteer. Rtetu, you are too humble, don't sell yourself short! Volunteer FF's are the backbone on the North American fire service, over 90% I believe. Back on topic... good luck with spa purchase!
  11. Yes, the Jacuzzi with a significantly longer warranty AND circulation pump AND enclosed foundation AND ozone.... spatech (the unreal one) has told us that the Hot Spot (La Palma) is a secondary line where they remove some of the bells & whistles and give it a lower warranty to make a better price point but not a reflection of quality or faith. OK, I apologize to spatech for suggesting that Jacuzzi has more faith in their product than Watkins Hot Spot. Jacuzzi does offer a superior warranty.... period. The buyer can decide for themselves what that means. Jacuzzi has a secondary line as well which is of course, more affordable than the J300 series being discussed here. The J200 series still offers a better warranty than Watkins Hot Spot (Jacuzzi 200 series: 5 yr shell; 3 yr surface; 3 yr equipment; 3 yr plumbing). I know that Hot Spring & Caldera have the same warranty as Jacuzzi 300 series but this buyer is looking at the Hot Spot which does not. I brought forward an important difference between the two models which; when the buyer is spending thousands of $$$ they should be thinking about it.
  12. As you've stated, the Hot Spot does not feature ozone, circulation pump, or enclosed foundation (I had mice under my old hot tub so when I bought a new one, it HAD to have the closed in foundation). I would suggest you go to the Jacuzzi & Hot Spot websites and compare the warranties. They are not even close. Jacuzzi seems to have more faith in their product. Shell structure warranty: HS 5 years - Jacuzzi 10 years (double) Shell surface: HS 2 years - Jacuzzi 7 years (3.5 times) Plumbing: HS 2 years - Jacuzzi 5 years (2.5 times) Controls/pumps, heater, etc: HS 2 years - Jacuzzi 5 years (2.5 times). Did you wet test or dry test? I can't see you having issues with the J365 comfort wise after a wet test. In your first post you indicated that you're willing to pay a little more for a better product/value (ie: the Tundra, the John Deere, etc), in my humble opinion, the Jacuzzi is there. You're talking about under $1000 for at least 2.5 times the warranty (Peace of mind). Easy decision for me. Good luck....enjoy the spa, whichever you decide!
  13. I checked out Bullfrog & Beachcomber before deciding on Jacuzzi. I have no Marquis dealer so can't comment on them. I decided to go with the J400 series (J470). It's very similar to the J365. Yes, it's definitely more money, but in my opinion, I value the quality, the fit & finish is superior, when I break out the difference in cost over the life of the tub, its not huge. I know the 365 is a very popular model, well built, go for it!
  14. That's a fabulous spa....Great choice. And it sells up here (Canada) for over $15K (around $13,800 USD). so to me that a great price!!! GO BUY IT!!!!
