1St Time Salt/chlorine Pool Owner

We just bought a house, with a salt water to chlorine pool. It's 10,000 gallons. Every time we went out to the house, the water was clear. (We now believe the homeowner was adding a bunch of chlorine, prior to our visit.) We have an autopilot, which doesn't seem to be working. (It's taped up, from only what we can imagine, was water inturusion..not to mention the hornets nest.) We ran the pump, which seems to be working fine. Over the last 3 days, we have watched the pool, slowly turn green. I did a chemical test and chlorine came up, with absolutly no color. I can only guess, that we need a new autopilot system. (Is there a better system out there, that we can put inline?) This is a pic of our system. 4ao4.jpg

(sorry the pics are small-only way forum will let me upload.)

Things we have done-Cleaned the filter, by hosing it off. Cleaned the salt cell, with acid and turned on the, 'full,' valves.

I have heard the praises of polyquat 60, but like everyone, I cannot find it, but online.

We also have a well, to which a sulfur smell invited us to our new property. The owner had turned off all the valves, which we figured out the second day there. We believe we have figured out that problem. We have put salt and chlorine in the pump house and turned back on the valves.

Along with the rest of the property, the pool was neglected.

Opinons? Thanks.
