adamkingadam Posted June 20, 2014 Report Share Posted June 20, 2014 I am hoping somebody has an idea what's going on with my hot tub! I have an LA Spas Del Rey 12 which I just put in a replacement balboa vs501z retrofit kit with new top control, a new waterway 48 230v 4.5 hp pump, and also a new 50amp breaker on the house. Basically everything is new. When I go to power on and enter the prime mode I am only able to power on the low speed with minimal water flow, and when I go to hit the two speed the pump will kick over to the two speed but I get a starting/stopping "thumping" type noise like a "dun dun" "dun dun" repeatedly and water comes out of the jets with correlation to that noise. I thought it could be an air lock but I have tried releasing that air lock at both the wet part if the motor as well as the heating element with no luck. Is this an air lock issue? If so any other suggestions on how to bleed the lines of the air? If not an air lock, any other suggestions? Thanks for any help! I'm pulling my hairs out here!
