  1. I had a fiberglass pool installed about a month ago. There are white stains between the coping to the waterline (probably mortar or grout from the brick coping). It looks like maybe grout/mortar has dripped/leeched down with all the recent rains. At "pool school" 2 wks ago, the PB said they would clean it off, but they never did. How should I clean this? It feels slightly rough but doesn't just wash off with pool water. What is safe to use to remove these stains? I have a SWCG. The pool is not winterized.
  2. I have seen several pictures from fiberglass pool websites with a tile laid OUTSIDE the (usually white) fiberglass coping of the pool. I like this look. I can't get my DH to agree to cantilever concrete, brick, or precast stone coping at all. I am anxious as my install is scheduled for just a little over a week away. I was wondering if I could sell him on the tile idea. What type of tile would this be?
  3. Does no one have any opinion on this? D:
  4. When we first contracted for our pool, it was an 11x25, and the PB said a SAl light would be enough because it was so small. Now, we have changed to a 15x32, and I think maybe we should upgrade to a SAm? Someone has said the holes in the pool are a problem with fiberglass and one PB said he does not install lights in fg pools for that reason (we did NOT hire him, too many other questionable items about him....another story). Anyway, should we ask to upgrade to a sam since they are only about $94 difference in all the supply places I see on the internet, or will the sal light be enough? Thanks for any input.
  5. Great, both great responses. Thank you so much. The budget (which was enlarged to include a larger pool than originally planned) will not cover coping at the present, so it is great to learn this. I like flagstone, but I also like the picture of the concrete. I have probably looked at 6000 pool pics and have never seen that look before...but I like it. Don, I have a friend with stones around their pool and they are flush with the concrete...and it just looks...weird. So, I like what you said. Had trees cut yesterday to prepare for my install, which should start October 6! Counting down the days.
  6. Hello...I am wondering if it is possible to add coping (such as flagstone or other) after a fiberglass pool has been installed and a concrete deck poured). In other words, are you able to go back later (more than one year) and add coping if you leave the fiberglass exposed upon installation? Thank you in advance for your input.
  7. I don't have any personal experience yet, but I think that is beautiful. I am getting a midnight blue fiberglass pool installed beginning Oct 6 (if the weather holds out).
