Wobbly
Just getting ready to clean out the pool and I moved what I thought was a bag of soda ash. To my surprise it was a bag of sulphate of potash (0-0-50) . Evidently the store where I asked for soda ash gave me this instead. I must have used about 10 cups of it last season without noticing the error. Can I substitute this for soda ash?
chem geek
No you shouldn't use that since sulfate of potash is potassium sulfate. It's surprising you didn't notice the lack of effects -- that it wasn't increasing the pH nor the TA.

Well, after not even reading the lettering on the bag, my lack of observation isn't that surprising.
