  1. I guess we are all in same boat more or less. If you have a 4BR (3000 to 4000 sq ft) house and run filter for 10-12 hours, electric bill is going to be between $350 to $500. Good thing to know is people across the country are in same range.
  2. Can everyone chime in with average monthly bill while running pump about 10 hrs a day and average single family home with central ac during summer months. I just received $353 bill (I am in NJ) for last month. This is our first year owning the pool. I would like to get an idea what every one is paying. P.S. I also have a booster pump for Polaris.
  3. I have checked with lot of companies since paying him $1500 and every one is quoting anywhere from $200 to $400. I have a main drain but it can't be $1300 to test that, right? Also, he didn't finish the testing as he didn't check the pipes going out to Waterfall and it seems like that is what is causing the leak. Since I turned off the Fall the water loss is turned in to half. I am going to file a consumer complaint against this company. I don't think I am getting my money back but I want his name to be out there so no one else gets cheated. Greg, Have you done any work in Edison area?
  4. I think they are big time scam artists. Did you work with guy named Joe Mcgrary? He ripped me for $1500 to just pressure test 4 lines. I have their address as Colonia, NJ. Are we talking about same company? I live in Edison.
  5. Thanks for your reply. I will try to change the pump seal. How do I use Polaris without booster pump? What changes I need to make?
  6. Hi, I have a Booster pump which is used for Polaris 360 pool cleaner. It is dripping little water continuosly. I changed the O ring in it but still the problem continues. Question 1) What else could be leaking the water? 2) Could it cause air surge in my pump (I have problem with air surge and it dropping the pressure. Please help!!!
  7. Hi All, This is in continuation of problems I am having with the pool in first year of owning it. Some of you have really helped me in last couple months. Please help me here with this ongoing problem. I am seeing bubbles come out of all return jets. When my water level is at the about half way or above to skimmer opening water pressure seems to be holding up ok at 16-17 psi. when water level is about 1inch in the skimmer box I see sudden drop in pressure. I have two skimmers and bottom drain do the suction. When pressure drops in above situation I turn off the suction from both skimmers and it returns the pressure to 16-17. In this case pump is only running on bottom drain but the bubbles are still coming. I know that when water level is low skimmer can suck the air and drop the pressure. My questions are 1) if I am only using bottom drain, why the bubbles are still coming? 2) How do I fix this situation? Any help will be appreciated, even if you are just giving me a tip. Thanks in advance, PoolProblems
  8. I live at the west end of rt 78 and work at the east end of rt 78 in Union Thanks!! I live in Edison, which is about 12 miles south of Union. I don't know if you can work if required, but if you can please send me your contact info.
  9. Find a new pool company!!!!!!!! We charge $170 to pressure test a pool ( if a diver is needed to plug the bottom drain then its more) Greg, I see you are from NJ, where in NJ?
  10. Swim-In, Thanks for your detailed reply. Few answers to your points above not in particular order. My not-so-reliable tester who tested the lines said all main lines are in good condition. One skimmer has little problem but he is saying it is not major and should not cause heavy water leak. My water leak stops right at the skimmer hole. (Bottom of rectangle). Reading your response makes me wonder something with the skimmers is causing it. As far as the leak from the pump, i see a wet patch near the pump and polaris motor. I am planning to take the pump to local store. When I fillup the water, it looses little over an inch a day till it reaches the bottom of the skimmer inlet and while pump is running. For fixing the tiles, I luckily found some compound which previous owner had left under the deck and it seems like the one to fix the tiles in the water. I am going to use that and see. Hopefully it gets better soon and we can use the pool. Learned lot of good things from amazing and helpful people here on this forum.
  11. Find a new pool company!!!!!!!! We charge $170 to pressure test a pool ( if a diver is needed to plug the bottom drain then its more) Yes, I am never calling that guy again. I got ripped..just bad mistake on my part to not confirm the price upfront..
  12. Hi All, I am frustrated first time pool owner. In last month I have spent more money on this pool than I could have ever imagined spending in my entire life on swimming. First important question, It seems like there is a water leakage when the pump runs near the pump. How do I fix it? I heard some one say I have to change the seal, if yes, how do I do it? Also, it seems like there are few tiles coming off from the top row (it is a plastered pool with a tiled border near top). How do I fix those? I asked a pool guy to come and look at the pool loosing water last week, he came and said he was doing pressure testing on the lines and charged me $1500 just for testing. I found out from other people later that it should not have cost more than $300-400. true? I feel like real idiot. If I don't get this fixed in the weekend, ordering two trucks of sand to fill it in on Monday... Please advise...appreciate your help
  13. Hi, It seems like we have a water leak in our inground pool and we had pool guy come in today and he is going to do the pressure test. Can anyone tell me the approximate cost for this?
