Hotsprings Jetsetter - Neck Jets Going Crazy

Recommended Posts

Hello, new user here. Been lurking on various forums trying to find someone else with this problem, came up empty. Hoping someone here can give me some advice, especially since it appears some HotSprings reps post here. My wife and I just bought a home with a Jetsetter (appears to be an 04 model), and it worked without issue the first few times we used it. I have never owned a hot tub before, and know nothing about them in regards to maintenance and repair.

Last night I went out to use it, and when I turned the jets on I noticed that the neck jets were blasting at like 500% -- so hard that the water was being shot out of the hot tub and onto the deck! I briefly tried troubleshooting, and I noticed that the dial that controlled the neck jets didn't have the resistance I was used to when adjusting it previously. It seemed more like it was just free-spinning without being connected to anything - turning it up or down had zero impact on the water pressure from the neck jets. The middle dial, which controls the moto-massage, also felt kinda loose. The last dial, which controls the jets down at the feet, felt normal.

I guess my questions are:

1. Is the control knob/dial likely the problem, or is a loose knob a symptom of a problem somewhere else in the unit?

2. Should I just call a service tech to inspect/repair, or would I be wasting money on an easy fix because of my inexperience?

Any help/info is appreciated.

The water level was just too low. The small lever that controls air flow to the neck jets is just an air flow control, it doesn't limit or control water volume. The jetsetter is the smallest of the Hot Spring spas, so when a couple people hop in, it's very easy to displace a bit of water. When they hop out, the water level may be a bit too low, and those neck jets morph into four small water cannons, lol. Just keep them under water, and you won't have a fountain. Once they're under water, and not shooting our of the tub, then you will be able to determine if there's an issue with the air flow control lever. It's possible the air flow control valves are not working properly, but that has nothing to do with the water blasting out of the tub. Fill it up a little more, and that issue vanishes.

The air flow control valves should allow air to get sucked into the jets, by turning them off and on. If they're spinning in a circle, they most likely need replacement. Once the water level is high enough, working properly, the air out of the specific jets should stop, and start, as you turn the adjacent air flow control off, and on. You can't really tell if they're working, or not, if water is spraying all over your deck :)
