akcheese
I live in alaska. Getting a new Hot Springs Jetsetter in a couple weeks. I'm planning on setting the tub on compacted gravel or crushed rock and sand. Currently I plan on putting the spa on a double layer of 5/8" marine grade plywood. One person advises putting it directly on blue board as the final layer. The main installer says the blue board won't do much insulation wise and will deteriorate and compress over time causing problems. Another installers says put the blue board on top do the rock/gravel but under the plywood. Any thoughts or experiences from other cold weather users?? Dr. Spa
I like the blue board idea. The plywood WILL rot out rather quickly ("marine grade" only uses a different/better glue than regular plywood and the wood will still rot), and I wouldn't use it (they make a pressure treated plywood that would be a much better choice...if you can find it.).
