  1. Can you have someone come out to do a temp rise test at the header. If water is pushed to fast thru the heater you will not heat efficentlty. Do you have a bypass installed in the plumbing at the heater? Also there is a built in bypass at in out header in the heater. If the spring in there is stuck open water is bypassing the heat exchanger but it will make a rattling sound. Has anyone done a test on gas pressure at the gas valve and while it is running? Everything has been done...heat rise test, spring was checked(no rattle either by the way), they even sent Jandy out to look at it and all I get is the same old story...the heater works fine.......but, clearly its NOT fine. I have a customer of mine who has the exact same heater and I felt the water coming out.....holy crap, it was like jacuzzi water. I have also messed witht he heat rise screw....turn it all the way down, all the way up, never any change at all....water consistently comes out the same temp. maybe 3-4º warmer than pool water. I am aware of the built in bypass, I dont know about an external one.....but, as you say, if the water is moving to fast, it wont heat up, thats been my gut feeling of whats occuring all along.
  2. Its usually caused by the cold water early in the season. I dont know where you are located, but I am in the northeast and mine coils up on itself until the pool water warms up. The lline gets softer and the polaris will travel more freely.
  3. 2 year old 400000 BTU heater running on propane. Heater has never worked properly from the get go. Had testers out here from jandy, the pool place, gas guys, everyone. Can run the heater for 12 hours with a solar cover in place, will see a 4 degree temp rise. My yard gets full sun also byt he way. When heater is running...for example...today...the pool temp is 63º. With the heater running the temperature of the water coming out of the jets is 67º. I have the heater at its highest temp setting of 104º and the heat rise setting screw all the way up. I go through propane like its going out of style and am NEVER able to warmt he pool up to a comfortable temp to go in it. I also asked the guy at the pool place today what the temp should be coming out of the returns, he said if its at 104º, you should be seeing around 95º -100º water heading back into the pool. Any help would be appreciated.
