  1. My Jacuzzi (J235) is a little over a year old and there is an odor with the air when mixed with the jets. It is noticeable immediately in the bubbles after introducing the air to the jets and gone soon after the air intake is closed. I don't know where the air enters the system or how to clean these routings. This is before and after a recent water change.
  2. I just ran into this change of products at Walmart also. I could not find clorox regular concentrated, only Walmart brand and another name brand which I forgot. The walmart brand was the 8.25% regular bleach so I bought it. They also lightened the load a little, its only 3.78 quarts, I guess saving about 7 ounces a bottle is a healty profit for them. Took me about 10 minutes in the ailes to decide what to choose though.
  3. I have a new jacuzzi and since it was a fresh install I went with the 60 amp service. I needed heavier wire than the 50 amp setup, and the GFCI box was probably only $10 more. My tub did not come setup for the 60amp setting so I altered the jumper per the manual myself. Then confirmed it was indeed heating with both pumps on high. I think it will be better in the winter when the outside temps are low and the air intake for the jets are cooling the water during use.
  4. I guess I believe the designs work or else the plumbing would be freezing up frequently. But, is it not risky to have plumbing and expensive equipment within the uninsulated comparment? What is hoped for is that the water within this area will not freeze in 10 hours between filtration cycles. I wonder at what minimum temp this is true. Do any of the circulation pumps move water thru the main jet pumps and heater plumbing?
  5. Just starting to think about winter, and was wondering if people do something extra to protect the equipment compartment of their tubs. I do not have a 24hr circ pump, 2 main jet pumps, one connected to the heater (Jacuzzi 235). It is fully foamed except the equipment bay, and that has me concerned. How do you keep a small. portion of an idle pump, for instance, from freezing before there is a need for the heater to turn on due to the insulation around the main body of water. Especially since the equipment bay is not insulated so the pumps do not over heat in the hot weather.
  6. I think my bleach bottles are probably weak also. Store one outside by the tub and we have been going to 105 fairly often. My next bottle is in the garage and that place is very hot also. I am using about 8 - 12 ounces after each soak and am able to keep up with the bather load. Using 3 - 6 ounces and all I could typically measure was CC and just a slight trace of FC. Anyhow, bleach is cheap, but on the flip side I dont think my heater is seeing much service.
  7. thats a great price, I bought this model a few months ago when it just came out and was not close to your quote. It is a very nice spa, there are indeed 2 pumps - both full size. One is 2 speed and runs everything but the 2 captains chairs and footwell, the second is one speed and runs the 2 captians chairs and footwell. I wish pump 2 was 2 speed because it has more power than I like but my wife likes it. I usually lay in the lounger with pump 1 on low and turn off a couple of high volume jets elsewhere.
  8. I currently have CH = 90, TA = 75, PH ranges between 7.3 ( add PH+) to 7.5 Have converted to bleach and have what I think is excessive chlorine usage and foaming battles at times. Would increasing CH help? Is is reasonable to have little or no FC in the morning after 1.5 people-hours soak and adding 4 oz of 6%clorox plain bleach? New tub with UV (does this eat chlorine) and I did a cursory spa flush and water change after 2 weeks, have not done a real high FC decontamination yet.
  9. you dont use the trex or similar synthetic for the posts, beams, joists, etc. These are made from treated lumber, and can be encased with the same material used for your decking and railing. I just replaced my 2nd 20 year old deck and went with a decking product by evergrain. Swore I would never have a wood deck again. The one that was not off the ground too high was replaced with a paver patio a couple years ago. My taller deck has the hottub, and has closer spaced joists underneath the tub along with extra posts.
  10. can you add to a K2006 kit to make it a K2106 kit later, for a reasonable cost?, if I decide to change over to bromine later.
  11. I am reading a lot here and see much reference to adding sanitizer (dichlor or bleach) and using an oxidizer (MPS) weekly. I just got a new Jacuzzi with clearray and the dealer recommends the opposite. He says to add MPS after every use and then add dichlor every week. Is this a reasonable method to attempt? I get near 0 readings for chlorine and have been adding a small amount every day almost but my water seems to be eating chlorine rapidly and I am considering using a spa flush and drain/replace. Testing has been with strips and I also bought an HTH kit that has drops for FC and PH that seems to correlate well with the strips. I did add both bleach and dichlor once, got a reading near 10ppm, and the next day was back below 1.
