  1. I need a Sundance tech, or advice. I havent had luck getting a return call from a local dealer. My issue is no air in one of the jet circuits (all jets on one side of hot tub) There is no air pump...the Sundance Caprio "sucks" in air into the jets via some type of venturi princable. There is a simple air intake tube...blow into it and you get the expected bubbles. The problem is this tube(s) system is filled with water. How does the water get into the air induction system? I'm thinking its a bad jet itself...but which one? Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem or has any insight.....I'd love a 30 / 60 minute session with a tech...I call Lighthouse pools, and nobody calls me back.
  2. Oh I tried that...first I tried just cutting power, then I tried unplugging the control unit from the circuit panle. It didnt work for me but still worth a shot.
  3. I have a Sundance Caprio......controls still work but display is garbled. I know your predicament......is it the control / display unit itself? Or can it be another problem. I didnt get any responses to my post either, so I went ahead and ordered a new display...$129.00 "gamble" It's due any day...I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.
  4. I changed my water last week at about 30 degrees. I'm new at this....I think the factory drain would take hours! I resorted to a 5 gallon drywall bucket and emptied out all 350 gallons in about 10 minutes.....filled it up with hose (city) water---which is about 50 degrees this time of year. It takes about 12 hours to heat to 103. Point is---miserable job, but done quickly enough it wont freeze.
  5. Been there! This stuff isnt rocket science, but some of those guys want us to believe it is. I'm still trying to get air introduced into the jets on one side of my Sundance......My local dealer told me it has a bad air pump......guess what, the tub never had an air pump. Its a Sundance, not an oddball tub and I doubt its a rare problem. If the pros cant fix it you just have to figure it out on your own. I think you have a neat plan but may have to select another way to skin the cat. maybe set the whole tub up on a timer that with a remote over ride circuit that bypasses the timer (always on when activated). Set the timer for the tub to run and hour or so a day (it will come on at default 102....but never reach that temp) then call in and activate the remote overide which is bypasses the timer and lets the tub go to 102. .014 KWH is expensive!
  6. LOL! tell me about it! heh heh, I used a shop vac, found two dead mice, possibly more...(I felt somthing larger went up the shop vac hose!) Looks like swiss cheese, they had had a whole living quarters in there, whole tennis ball size "rooms" excavated and filled with birdseed, rooms for nurseries, and trials connecting them...one side mostly, the other 3 sides of the tub have minor damage. Hey quantum...Thanks! I replaced two of the jets but havent messed with the othes that are effected.
  7. Wow..they still make them?! I owned a 6 foot diameter wooden barrel in the early 80's...After college and prior to marraige, I lived with 4 guys renting a large home..we pooled our money and essentially custom built a hot tub. We found a used pump, and bought a propane heater....its not rocket science...by any means, in fact, its some of the simplest plumbing one can do. We used the tub for years and it was a great ice breaker for meeting girls! We only had 3 jets. upside is it simple! (this is a downside to some folks) We never missed the molded seats or extravagent jet systems. Less crap to maintain and go bad. easy to repair when something does act up. Downside is it WILL seep water through the boards, not leak proof like a modern fiberglass tub.
  8. Thanks...you know..this tub is pretty darn enjoyable even without the air. I've was told its an "air pump" problem... by a counter man at Light House pools....There is no air pump!!!!! I wish I under stood the theory / technology better, ...near as I can figure air is introduced (and bubbles produced) by some type of ventury effect....the water must blast by an opening and ...essentially, "suck" air into the jet. The mice could have chewed thier way into a line...they also could have entered through the air intake...which is a wide open 3/4 I.D. hose. I've Googled and found very little info..which, honestly, I'm a little surprised so little is known about the system...after all, isnt sundance a name brand? When the guy at Light House pools...who sells Sundance for a living...tells me its an air pump problem ....who the heck do I turn too? Unless I can get info, looks like I'm on my own until warmer weather when I can drain and dis-assemble the jets and figure it out on my own. I have hunch the issue is at the jets or right behind the jets...like Pool Clown says...something (perhaps a broken piece of plastic from a jet)...is somehow causing the issue.
  9. Thanks Pool clown, for the responses and tips. Just my luck...I just join the forum and get little response other than "turkey spam"
  10. I agree wityh pool clown...just from general electrical experiance, GFI's and even regular circuit breakers, do weaken and go bad.
  11. I dont know the answer..at first I was thinking something wrong with your water...green slim sounds like algea...I'd be interested in what the cause/fix is. hopefully you will get a response.
  12. Years ago we had this issue and never really solved the ice....what we did was install a good handrail, be careful and just hold on........we were all in our early 20's at the time, aware the ice was present, and nobody ever got hurt. I like the towel idea.
  13. By Googling this question I learned some guys wrap the jets with teflon tape to fix this. -Might be useful for others to know. But, I found that new replacements have been improved and have a thicker different type of plastic....I bought two and they seem fine!
  14. Well I visited Lighthouse Pools...according to the counter man...there is no re-set and the only fix is a new control/display unit...I kinda had a hunch.
  15. I found the air inlet tube, it seems quite clean...I blew into it and ...as long as I blow, the jets work. ....I think there is water in the line(s) I can tell ....I'm blowing out water first, then once the water is out its easier to blow and the air comes out the jets......as soon as I stop blowing, and take my mouth of the air inlet tube.....I can feel very slight air coming back out and hear water re-filling the lines. So, there's the problem I guess...but ...how is the water getting in? bad jets themselves?
