shaklee3
Hi, we inherited a hot tub after buying a house, and we finally decided to try it for the first time in over 2 years. After cleaning it out and filling it up, it seemed to be working well. However, I looked in the maintenance panel and see a leak from one of the pipes. It appears to be a coming from a clamp from the computer to the pump. I've linked to two images -- one showing the exact location of the leak, and one showing a picture. Should I put some pipe sealant on this or get a new clamp? http://s7.postimg.org/5rfu1eu5n/leak.png http://s7.postimg.org/x4l0w60q3/leak.jpg
Dr. Spa
That's a union. I'd try simply tightening it up (with your hand...NO wrench).
shaklee3
It looks like it has a Phillips screw on it. Leave that and just try hand tightening? I can send a better picture if it helps
Markee
Tightening it or putting pipe sealant is only a band-aid fix. All you need to do is buy some new heater gaskets and install them. There is one on each side of the heater, I would recommend changing them both.
shaklee3
Thanks markee. Can you point me to where to buy one? I don't see something that looks like these on any of the spa parts sites.
Markee
Where do you live at? Is there a local Marquis dealer?
shaklee3
I'm in San Diego. I searched Google and didn't find anything obvious next me. It's a 2003 Reward.
shaklee3
Do you think this and a gasket would work? http://www.amazon.com/Split-Heaters-Screws-Waterway-400-5421/dp/B004VTGGOK
Markee
You shouldn't need a new union, the existing ones should be fine. You just need 2 heater gaskets. Check your messages, I sent you my contact info. I can mail you some of the gaskets.
