  1. Yeah I am cracking up they wont fill a model...it was filled before it left the factory. I always tell people buy the spa they will enjoy using the most. Enjoying the heat and the bubbles and how you fit is the single most important factory when comparing high end hot tubs. Ace is right, you can look at other tubs as well. Arctic and Maax have some of the benefits you might like of the Bullfrog by trying to eliminate problems with accessing plumbing down the road and you will also get a plastic bottom like on the Bullfrog too.
  2. Leisure concepts came out with this pretty cool cover called the smart top cover. I am excited to see it in Vegas this year, I have heard dealers are having great luck with it.
  3. Loop nailed it. I recommend using your local dealer. Online companies can be hard to deal with and they are only selling off the "value" meaning they have no reason to try to give you the best quality just lowest priced cover they can. I have seen many examples they have problems with stitching etc.
  4. I love Rodger says he is in the shipping industry yet he knows so much about all these other tubs. I still think you work for hot springs and/or D1 dealer or a rep...but thats just me. Here is why, its a little far fetched as a plumber working on hot tubs part time in a small market that probably doesn't sell much more then 500 hot tubs a year but, you know so much about every brand and what companies are "trying" to accomplish? You hate new gimmicky things but own a D1, well do the neck flex pillows not just disgust you as a part that breaks collects bacteria and sprays everywhere? How about the MDRIVE worst topside ever? I see you always critisizing these other brands but never making mention that EVERY company tries new things, some good some bad, but you want to say all bad. You actually like the spa frog system...umm hello its bromine and nature II but they make it sound like the tub cleans itself...not one peep about those things. *end rant* Yesterday I got a Maax351 7 years old and its one of the sexiest used tubs I have had in some time. I just sold a Bullfrog 251 and had customers beating down my door to buy it. Also one heck of a sexy hot tub and was around the same age. People LOVE it. But hey what do I know? I only work in the hot tub industry full time 100s of hours a week it seems.
  5. I think he was thinking because they keep their equipment out of spa that helped...sure he was wrong on that one point but you guys were rude to someone trying to help. A guy that actually bought a hot springs which was hilarious everyone missed that part. Trish good luck and we look forward to hearing your decision.
  6. Wow...I was going to respond with "I wouldn't let a couple bad reviews deter you, most people will complain long before they write anything positive." well holy crap this company doesn't seem to want to keep their customers happy. I would probably avoid them. I know a good dealer in San Diego area called Carrdine Home Resort and personally knowing the operations manager he eats sleeps and breathes customer service...I would try them.
  7. Was that a leftover one or a change of brands sale? I'm in Mass also and that seems real low for that tub. I would expect it to be closer to the 9500 mark. Did your price include anything like steps, cover lift or their ozone system Barry? I would say 8500plus tax would be a good price on a 365. 9500 seems pretty high and I think their clearray system is now standard.
  8. Wow you guys jumped all over Great White when he was actually giving very good information. Great White I think your information was great and unbiased which most people on here have a hard time doing. Also Rodger I think I need you to train me and my guys on this easy way you cut out hot spring foam, even the dealer in my area quotes 2-3k for most leaks on their own product and always recommends just replacement....maybe I have been doing it wrong all this time of standing tubs up, ripping and chiseling out foam then putting them on blocks while I crawl under with a flash light on my head and start cutting and cleaning pipes. Maybe you have a better method then the 2 weeks and 1500-2500 I normally invoice for those repairs? Maybe I shouldn't ask because I am sure we must have done that 20-30 times last year. Rodger or Hot Springs I honestly do not know this answer so you might have some experience with it. On Hot Springs new insulation (fibercore?) that can be removed with a shop vac...how do you get it back in after you removed it? I have talked to someone that said they cut open brown paper and all insulation fell out and they had no way to get it back in. This was last year and I never followed up, so since we are all here.
  9. I like the ozone and UV system. I also think you'll be happy either way and to try the tubs again. Ive never been a huge fan of sitting in Caldera because their jets arnt as easily controllable or adjustable as other brands. But both are quality brands and you really should just figure the tub with the best comfort. I wouldn't even consider buying a spa from a person selling out the their backyard. I am not sure of the alps brand and would probably stick with one of your first two choices.
  10. I said WET TEST because what I heard and it was from a friend who used to work from bullfrog who I called asking. I have always liked bullfrog, when I listed my favorite tubs they were at top with a couple others. Yes Vita is owned by Maax now. Make the drive and sit in the prestige (call first) think you'll be happy you did. As far as good price on aurora 2 I don't know. See what the best price you can get on it, I would assume you can get it into your price range. I just remember the @home series being the 4000-6000 range couple years back when I dealt with them more. Which was around 2011. Rodger when you say "there are better tubs out there" explain what tubs and why. Because I think "better" is a matter of opinion and in my opinion there isn't. Bullfrog builds a great tub and I don't think you can say there are better...every tub has pros and cons. I think other companies do a better job of filtering and sanitizing water, but bullfrog has better structure, just as good insulation and if the new jet packs perform well I like those too. I still say wet test, especially because I'm not sure what model they have that gets into that 6-7 thousand. Loopcity-can you adjust the jets on the jet packs...like turn the jet on and off individually?
  11. How do you neglect the frame? Do you recommend customers open the cabinet and seal their wood framing? Come on man. BTW I have yet to ever dispose of a non wood frame spa...no matter if they "neglected" it or put it in a "bad space". Give it a rest Rodger...I try to give every company their due but you some reason hate Maax and it doesnt make sense. I am guessing they are your competitor and thats it. I am done arguing this topic with you as its apparent you have other motives. This my last post...the funny thing is the potential buyer said he liked the jets better and you still tried to take a shot at their jets. Good luck with your d1 or hot springs store I am guessing.
  12. Congrats! Let us know how you like it and any pictures. I personally like Maax a lot...I just got a 2006 481 on trade in and I cant think if I want to replace my 2004 Optima and bring it to my house yet...decisions decisions
  13. How old is the tub, what brand...be as specific as possible to whats going on. I would really recommend calling a service professional to come look at the tub, it doesn't sound like this is something you have a lot of experience dealing with and if you find a good independent service tech for hot tubs you probably wont be that much in and get it done much faster. I like using the website homeadvisors.com, you can read all reviews and get a couple bids or maybe someone can just diagnose over the phone for you.
  14. A brand new Sojourn in 2011 should of sold for close to that price. I am not sure thats a very good deal for a 2-3 year old one. D1 Home series is just like Caldera Vacanza series or the Jacuzzi 200 or the Sundance 600 series. They are going to use name recognition while making a cheaper spa with not the same jetting or warranty/parts they used to earn the name in the first place. The Caldera tub you talking about is going to use mostly small non adjustable jets that I wouldn't consider incredibly therapeutic, but give it a try for yourself...maybe you did and you like it. I do like their higher end but I get you have a budget restraint and they probably don't have anything in that price range. See how low you can get an Aurora II from D1 for, and wet test that one...that thing rocks pretty well and would meet size needs. I recently worked in San Antonio for a dealer selling both Caldera and Vita and I used a couple spas and liked the Prestige better then the Moreno they had filled...maybe see if there is a Vita dealer near by, those jets were pretty awesome and would be close to price and size you need. Too bad no Marquis. I do like Bullfrogs even though most people hate them because they are different. But I would recommend wet testing exact model and jet packs you get...I have heard their new jetpack system ruined all their water pressure but I dont know that to be true yet.
  15. If you use the hot tub at all its cheaper to keep it at one temp then to heat it up when needed. Sundance is one of the most efficient brands so you shouldn't notice a large energy bill. If you are not using it you can turn temp down to i think 80 and turn mode to sleep and that wouldn't need to heat often.
