  1. Well i've got hold of some liquid chlorine, it came from www.aqua-poolsandleisure.co.uk. It says its 4.7 - 4.9% sodium hypochlorite solution. 20litres for £12 + p & p. Theres no other "ingredients" listed on the label. It looks quite yellow in the pot it came in but not so much when you pour it out. Says it is suitable for pools & spas up to 15ft round. It's not a thick liquid. Does this all sound o.k? I am just really nervous about putting something i haven't used before in the tub. The tub is 410 gallons, so can i just use the pool calculator by adjusting bleach % to find out how much to add. Thanks for all the advice, most appreciated. BTW Just had our first snow of the winter, not much but a a covering on the ground, looking forward to hot tub dip tonight if it lasts.
  2. Thanks, so if i find a bleach with say 3% on label then i would need to put in double the dosage? Had a look on Tesco website & their value range bleach just says "contains less than 5% chlorine based bleaching agent disinfectant ( sodium hypochlorite)", it's 28p for 2 litres. Are most supermarket bleach labels that vague? Just a bit nervous about using any old cheap bleach then finding out it's got some other ingredient in it & i shouldn't put it in the tub.
  3. Hiya, Thought i'd give this post a bump as i have the exact same question. Any ideas if a supermarket stocks any bleach that would be suitable for hot tub. Also what exactly should i look for on the bleach label, chemical name, % etc. Is there anything i definitely don't want to see on the label. Thought i'd give the dichlor then bleach method a go as our cya levels had got way out of control, 150+. So new fill, new regime. Just trying to get ph level down at the minute cos we live in a very hard water area. Many thanks for any help
  4. Hi, We live in the UK and are wondering what test kit we can get over here that will be as good as the Taylor k2006 everyone raves about on here. I've googled it and i don't think it is available in UK. Any help most appreciated.
  5. We've just completed our first refill of our ( dare i say it?!?!?!) Master Spa Legacy Enterprise. It's about 2 months since it was first set up. Have had no probs at all so far but since we refilled it the ozonator seems to have bigger bubbles coming out of it and they are pulsing out rather than a smooth flow, this is accompanied by a glugging noise which could be the bigger bubbles. Has anyone any idea what could be causing this, sounds like it could be an air bubble or something maybe. How would we cure that. Due to the good old English weather ( it's been chucking it down all week ), we haven't had the side panel of so i can't tell you what make of ozonator it is or anything but i do know it's a corona discharge one. Also when we charged the tub up after refilling the display went through it's rundown and then when it showed pr for priming the tub didn't do anything for about 5 mins and then the jets started up and it started heating. Tried shutting it down and trying it again but it still never did anything when pr was showing. Anyone any ideas on that? Thanks for any help given.
  6. Thanks for the reply , that's just what we thought it was doing, checking temp. So there is different systems where some like ours filter for a certain amount of time each day and others that filter continuously, 24 hr, on a quiet pump, is that right? Which system is best? If we set up the tub in eco mode how much temp would you expect it to lose in the 10 hours it's not heating? If we could set up the filter system to work in late afternoon i wonder if we would have a good enough temp after the two hours for when we would want to use it, early evening. Do you think it would be feasible to have the tub in standard mode during the day and switch to eco mode at night so i dont have to hear the pump cutting in & out at night? Thanks for any replies
  7. Hiya, Live in the uk have just purchased a legacy whirlpool enterprise hot tub. It has a 3kw heater. 2 pumps and a balboa vl600s panel. It was set up yesterday, it took about 12 hrs to eat up to temp ( 37 degrees c) We have it set up on standard mode with 2 hr filtration every 12 hrs. My question is that every 30 mins the low speed jet 1 activates for 2 mins, it's not heating as the heating light isn't on and temp is maintaining well. Is this normal for jets to turn on every half an hour. Also as the tub is outside our bedroom the noise when it's on is slightly annoying. It's not loud though but i'm used to quiet at night. Is there any way of setting up the 2 hr filter cycle time for a time when we won't be in bed? Many thanks in advance for any advice given.
