  1. Thanks PF, Just sent them an email. i will let you know. Sonny
  2. Hey All! I got my Jacuzzi late last year and kept it open during the winter. When I would go to clear it off it would always have a covering of slushy ice on the cover (beneath fresh snow). In the process of removing this stuff I punctured the cover and bag surrounding the foam core insulation. The cover got completely waterlogged and was not emptied until spring. My local dealer said that the cover's foam is so dense that even if i laid it out all summer it probably would not dry out and would not retain it's insulation properties. My dealer quoted me $599 for a replacement cover and stated it would take about 4 weeks to get. He also stated there were no aftermarket alternatives as the J-480 has the sweepting back where the waterfall is. My questions: 1- Is this true? Is there no aftermarket alternative? Is the price quoted fair? 2- Any tips on how to extend the life of the new cover when i get it? I am considering adding a large tarp on top to take most of the abuse of cleaning snow and ice off. Thanks for your help. Sonny
  3. I bought a Jacuzzi J-480 last year and it was a model that did not have the Ipod dock. Which was not an issue at the time as I did not have an Ipod at the time. Since then I have purchased an IPOD Touch and want to use it. How difficult would it be to rig an Aux in from the stereo in my Tub? Anyone done this? Thanks!
  4. I have A Roady XT and just use the Built in FM modulator and toss the unit in whith the radio.
  5. Hehhhhehhhhehhh! Thanks for the comments guys! I was a lil pissed off as we just got the Tub set up last Tuesday and I left Wednesday to go to Denver and just got back last night! Gonna have our first get together tonight! I loved the movie SWINGERS!!! The "MONEY" reference was awesome!
  6. I think that was my problem. Here is how I understand it: 1- During the first fill I added a large dose (as per instructions) of Bromine and Activate (Shock component). When testing with strip after shock, Bromine tests in Normal- Normal high. 2- Testing the next day before entering pH and Alkalinity are good but bromine reading is none existent. So Bromine is there just not gonna show readings until activated? So after using tub (450 Gallon or 1800 l) add 2 TBLSPOONS of ACTIVATE. This raises the Bromine level to kill all the nasties. 3- In structions indicate I should add more BROMINE LIQUID every week to keep the levels available to be SHOCKED up. Is this correct? If so: Bromine part of test strip will only indicate BROMINE when it has been activated? How long should we wait to use Tub after Adding the Activate/Shock?
  7. My wife and I used the tub twice last night. Upon exiting the tub I used a Test strip. Reading showed pH and Alklinity to be ideal but the Bromine level is Nil (strip did not change colour). I looked at my Bromine system and it has a 2 part system: The kit is RENDEZVOUS Part A is Sodium Bromide.....32% (Liquid) Part B is Potassium Monopersulfate.....32% (powder) When I filled up the tub I added these 2 in the ratio recommended by my dealer. I then brought in a sample and they said I needed to add: Calcium Hardness Total Alkalinity UP Since then all levels are optimum except the Bromine level. What or when should I add chems? Is there an easier Bromine dispersal? I understand that DiChlor would "Burn off" over night but I thought Bromine should maintain a fairly constant level. I give the floor to you wonderful Chem geeks that I used to make fun of in High School!
  8. Thanks for comments guys. We had our first soak last night. First one at about 7 pm with the kids and again at 10:30 pm WITHOUT the kids I am going to be pulling off some panels to investigate the insullation. The Gazebo has been a God Send... it has been raining for 3 days here so that was nice.... also it is nice for privacy if we have guests you are a little more shy. We live in Suburbia.... 3000 sf ft homes on 50' x 100' lots, so the neighbours are CLOSE (hence why we almost needed the crane to get it in). I have had no luck in tracking down "SPA NECESSITIES" either. Quick question I am going to Colorado for a week and my wife is going to visit family for a week. We are using a Bromine system. Is there anything we should do chemical wise?
  9. Again thanks to Pathfinder and Chas....I took their suggestions and fixed it myself with stellar results. I started with 140 grit sandpaper to get down to base of scratch. Then Feathered by wet sanding with 240 grit, 400 grit and 800 grit. I then used a very fine acrylic cutting polish. Then protected it with Acrylic Surface Cleaner/Polish. And a coat of Megiars to top it off. Even my wife, who is extremely picky, was impressed. Thanks again!
  10. Thanks to Pathfinder and Chas... I am going to try this fix myself. Here are some BEFORE pics:
  11. Ok so my electrician is doing the final hook up and I have some pictures of our set up: I also took some pics of the "guts" of the Jacuzzi: Should I be concerned that the foam on the main tube seems to be falling off? Also would this be considered "FULL FOAM"? The Dimension 1 spa i looked at seemed to have more insulation. Is this sufficient for Canadian weather? Can more insulation be added? or is it even needed? And here is a close up of the SPA NECESSITIES CD Ozonator: Why is only one of the two "ports" hooked up????
  12. I went and talked to my dealer regarding Bromine vs DiChlor vs Lithium. The guy in the "Water Lab" said that a first timer the Bromine system is the easiest to maintain and when done properly very little "chlorine smell". He indicated that the starter kit provided with the spa was very forgiving and that I would probably like it. He suggested I use it to start with and reminded me that I should be changing the water every 3-4 months anyway. If I did want to change to a different system, this would be the best time to do so. When I asked about the Taylor K kit he indicated that all there test equipment was Taylor. He suggested that the Taylor kit is VERY effective but for most applications it is overkill, he reccomended the Test strips. Is he in fact right? If I wanted a Taylor kit where could I get one in Ottawa? They do NOT carry them at Club Piscine (my Dealer) but had a variety of reagent type kits but not taylor. Also, I did not bring in a water test yet, if I am on City water the makeup should be the same right they gave me instructions based on their readings of City water. Is this ok? Electrician is hooking up power as I write this.
  13. It is pretty nasty (acrylic scraped parging on house foundation) I tried to take pics but it was dark and flash screwed up pics. Will post pics tomorrow.
  14. During delivery, my Tub's acrylic was scuffed pretty badly in 2 places. (Kind of pissed off.... but amazed that they got it in at all). The problem is the scuff is right around the control panel. What can I use (product or technique) to fix this. I believe the dealer is going to take care of this but have not been able to confirm as the owner is out of town currently. Any recomendations?
  15. Pretty daunting huh??? I am a new owner myself and am trying to make sense of it all. I posted the same question in the WATER CHEMISTRY section... here is the link: Bromine vs Chlorine Waterbear seems to really know his stuff! Hope this helps.
