  1. Without knowing what tub you have, how big, how we'll insulated etc... It's hard to say but I have a hot spot rhythm 220v in the NC mountains where the weather fluctuates from 50 in the day to high 20s at night and it costs me about 30-40$ a month to keep at 104 using mine 3-4 times a week for 45 min
  2. My 220v tub rises around 3-5 degrees an hour. A little slower earlier on with 50 degree water and a little faster later as the water heats more. Overall it takes about 12-14 hours to come to full temp.
  3. Go to Harbor freight and pick up a submersible 1/4hp 1200 gal/hr Clearwater pump. 29.99$. Drop your water down to 85 degrees the day before you want to drain it. Then just drop the pump in and plug it up. 20 min later you're drained and ready to clean and refill.
  4. I haven't had nor do I expect to need to use it, but I bought a little 2 stroke water pump to quick drain the my tub if the need ever arises. It'll pump 2000 gal/hour and you don't have to worry about water temp as it will pump hot water without ruining the seals.
  5. What about fiberglassing it? Might cost 250$ but would seal it from moisture. Check out the website for Chesapeake light craft or Pygmy boats for resources for ordering and lots of good marine fiberglass products.

  7. Generally the spas require a dedicated 110/20 amp circuit. Just guessing but it's most likely a 20 amp breaker in your panel. So figure your spa is running at 15 amps. Now if just your spa is running its filter cycle it's pulling 15 amps, or if just your freezer is running its pulling 10-15 amps, but if your freezer is running and your spa kicks on its filter cycle at the same time you'll trip the breaker. Just coincidence that it takes weeks for them to kick on at the same time. That's my guess.
  8. 5. Yes 6. Make sure there is a residual in the water before use as well. I add 1.5 tablespoons or mps before and after use.
  9. That sounds just about right. My 2012 rhythm was like 5799$ I think plus 200 to upgrade the cover lifter to the cover cradle and 200 for steps. After tax and ozone it was 6300$. Also, have you factored in electrical to your budget? If you don't have a friend to do it or do it yourself expect 500-1000$ for that as well.
  10. With nature 2/MPS you won't read any chlorine unless you just shocked because you aren't sanitizing with chlorine. Just shocking and removing the bio film from the silver particles in te stick. My regiment is 1.5 table spoon of MPS before and after each use and 2 tablespoons every other day if I am not using he tub(ie rain or too busy). Normally I shock every Tuesday with spa guard enhanced shock and if I've used the tub 2-3 nights in a row ill do it on fri as well when I get out of the tub. This is all for a 375 gal tub so you would need less of each chem than me but try that kind of routine. I've find my MPS gets completely used up by the third day without and use.
  11. Can't go wrong with jacuzzi or sundance. Other good names to look at are D1, caldera, hot springs and marquis. Depending on your budget and size of tub you should be able to find comparable models in all those brands and end up with a quality tub.
  12. No. Exactly the same. It's soapish residue so like bubbles from a jar, it needs air to form I'd guess. That's why I turn the air on full for scooping. I found that it took 3 shocks to get it totally gone but you might need less. Just don't add anything else when/if you use the clarifier because it will bind your mps or ph changer or whatever other powders you add and make a mess.
  13. I've had foam a couple times since I got my tub in September. Now, the first thing I do when guests come over is run their suits through 2 rinse cycles before they get in. Now, to get rid of the foam: I turn my tub jets on high with full air. Then I stand and scoop out the foam with a clean $0.99 dust pan from the dollar store. I scoop and scoop and scoop for 45 min to a hour till it stops mounding up. Then I turn the air off and shock it with spa guard enhanced shock 2-3 days in a row rinsing the filter each day. By that time it should be just about gone, so I add 2 oz of Leisure Time Bright and clear(works for up to 800 gallons according to the bottle) overnight WITH NO OTHER CHEMICALS OR POWDERS. I follow the instructions which tells you to have the air on full for like 2 hours then let it do its normal cycles. Let it do its thing overnight and the next morning I have a thick brown goo all the way around the water line. I wipe it off with a clean rag and follow around the water line with some vinigar on a different rag. After all that I end up with clear clean foam free water and a rule that everyone showers and rinses their suits before they get in.
  14. To me it comes down to known quality and support. I KNOW my Hot Spot is well made by a reputable company that supports their products and I KNOW I have a mom and pop shop that has good techs if I have a problem down the road. Things like delivery and set up, can you manage that by yourself if they have some 3rd party delivery service drop it off at the curb? All the little things..
  15. I have the cover cradle 2 and its fantastic but I'm not sure if it will work on any non Watkins product. The dual shocks are great for 1 handed opening and closing by myself or my wife.
