1. As luck would have it, we are a Jacuzzi, and Hot spring dealer. It is accurate that the 300 series would be most comparable with the HS brand. I would suggest to you that either would be a great choice. I firmly believe that the only way to be sure in your selection is to get in the spa itself. See which one fits the best. You may be completely surprised. My wife and I are putting a spa in our new home. After testing, she has decided on a 480. I have decided on a HS vista. Well, I guess that settles that. Where do you live? Lew Akins www.lewakins.com
2. I am recovering from knee replacement sergery on 6/27 so have time to assist if you like. It is unuasual to actually see a realistic question, or answer for that matter on this forum. A bit agenda driven to say the least. You have some good questions, and there is no one answer to most of them. I am 30 years in the pool/spa industry, and offer some honest answers to any questions you may have. My web site is www.lewakins.com I am checking my e-mail from my home office a few times a day. You may call me on my mobile phone if you like. 254 534 1332. Lew Akins
3. Get the data off the filter ( manufacturer, size etc.) I will be glad to help you. I have little else to do since I just had knee replacement sergery. You clearly have a filtration issue. IIt is important that you maintain circulation, and chemical balance while you are sorting out this issue. You may use my e-mail addy if you choose. lewakins@vvm.com (V V M not W M) My web address is lewakins.com. This forum has a lot of misinformation on it. Primarily agenda driven Lew
4. You likely have no stabilizer in the water. Take a sample of water to a pool store, and have it tested. That should fix the problem. Lew Akins www.lewakins.com
5. If you are losing more than an inch a day, you have a leak!!!!!!! Lew Alins www.lewakins.com
6. Your total alkalinity is probably low. Take a water sample to any pool store, and they will check it for you. Lew Akins www.lewakins.com
7. There is nothing wrong with Jacuzzi equipment, but that division was rescently purchaced by another company. There has been a lot of aqusition in our industry in recent years. Most eq. manufactures are giving extended warrenties if you "bundle" all their eq. on your pool. I would look at Jandy, Pentair, Hayward, or Sta rite. They all have heaters as well as pumps and filters. All but Sta Rite have computer control systems as well. Lew Akins www.lewakins.com
8. Many like you. Try calling Dan Corbin Atty. 254 939 7070 He has handled a number of Wave tec cases.
9. Thermaspa, no spas, just photos. No help or service, just high pressure.
10. QUOTE(jkduncan @ Nov 8 2005, 04:09 PM) 2569 First time Spa buyer looking to get a good quality spa for around 7000 dollars sitting 4 or 5 adults at times but mostly just me and my wife as our kids our mostly grown and we are soon to be empty nesters. Some information first on where the spa is going to go, we are building a new room to measure about 20x26 to make a rec room out of it so it will hold a spa, some type of furniture and a bar. I think the most limiting factor is the door in the room so it must fit through a set of french doors. We have looked at the following spas any help on these spas or others that you would recommend would be greatful. Thanks in advanced. Vita Allure w/ ozonator and countious pump set up with cover cady and steps for 6500 Vita Essence w/ozonator and countious pump set up with cover cady and steps for 6200 Marquis Quest set up with cover cady and steps for 6700 Hot Springs Sovereign set up with cover cady and steps for 6995 Coleman 461 Deluxe set up with cover cady and steps for 6500 Thanks again for any help Hot Spring, Jacuzzi, and Sundance would be my top three.
11. The first two answers are correct.. There are five spas worth buying, and the choice is a very individual one. Always try them first!!!!!!!!!!!! In random order, Hot Springs, Demension 1, Jacuzzi Premium, Bullfrog, and Sundance. (Bull frog is unique in several regards, but does not currently offer a 24 hr. circ pump. You will only screw yourself with the "lower the better" approach. Lew Akins
12. QUOTE(Hank @ Sep 28 2005, 05:44 PM) 1355 We have a new inground pool with an in-floor cleaning system, spa fountain, and waterfall. As the system cycles through the various cleaning zone, the filter (4 cartridges) pressure gauge varies from 30 to 38 pounds. I've been told that it ought to be 10-15 psi. Is this correct? The filter cartridges are new. Do I have a problem with the piping? Thank You, Hank in Bradenton, FL Hank, There is no such thing as "normal pressure". As resistance to flow increases, the pressure goes up. When operating a spa, the pressure will normally be higher than typical pool operation. This is because the orfice size in spa jets are smaller. We give up volume for velocity. The same is true with your in-floor cleaner. They will ALWAYS run at a higher pressure than a standard return system.
