  1. I did my research (as posted several months ago) and settled on the Jacuzzi J-355. Got it delivered with the startup chemical kit... a Covermate III lift, all for $6800. Great strong jets! Great quality and warranty. Love this spa. Good luck.
  2. Good question... I'm interested as well. I don't have ozone, and don't seem to have any issues maintaining my water quality, with just normal shocking and occasional chlorine treatment. Wondering whether a mineral insert is even necessary.
  3. Don't have enough time to get into this properly... what I will say is that I bought a J-355 last month with a Covermate III and a chemical startup kit for $6800 delivered. I attended the Oregon State where they had every possible spa you could imagine including Jacuzzi. They (different dealer) had their J-355 floor model (not at the fair but back in their store) with Ozone, Music package, Covermate III and steps for $6300 delivered. I had already ordered mine.... so I had to pass. I was going to avoid the J-355 due to the shorter lounger myself... but knowing that I would be floating a bit... went with it and it's fine for me. I'm 5-11. Bottom line... your Jacuzzi dealer is asking way to much.
  4. Scott, Sorry, no clue here. Your warranty should cover any issue. Did you call your dealer/ You kink of freaked me out, since I just bought a J-355 about 6 weeks ago. It's been real cold here too... currently 28 F. I just went out and lifted my lid and it's holding steady at 102. Once again, sorry... I have nothing to add except, that your Jacuzzi warranty is one of the best in the industry.... you paid for it... put it to work for you. ...edit... oops! Just noticed that you mentioned this was a used tub.
  5. HA! Ya... I was hoping I wouldn't get flamed on my sense of humor. What it really comes down to (as many have said)... is what is important to you. Dano wet tested Jacuzzi and Arctic.... went with the Arctic. I wet tested them too as well as many others.... I went with the Jacuzzi. I've already mentioned what was important to me on an earlier post. Another important thing is your local dealer. I got great vibes from my Jacuzzi dealer and actually from a couple of others... Hot Springs was great and I also liked their spas... they were just too greedy. Apparently, my local Arctic dealer is No. 1 in the NW... but... I really didn't care for the owner of the company. He was very defensive, over bearing and quick to criticise other products. Just didn't seem like someone I wanted to deal with.
  6. Not sure if that last post meant to say, "buy an Arctic Spa". If so...... I would suggest NOT! Reminds me of the Chic-fil-A commercials, "Eat more Chikin"! Of all the spas I researched... those seem to have the most complaints. My research led me to recently purchase a Jacuzzi J-355. I love it! Check them out. I was looking for: - Quality - Jet performance - Warranty Got mine with a Covermate III for $6800.
  7. Sounds like a good question for a "poll". For me... in the mornings... good cup of coffee in the evenings... nice glass of red wine.
  8. Spa Essentials makes a single use wipe that works pretty well.
  9. Well... got just got back last night from 2 GREAT weeks in Puerto Vallarta....... checked the spa this morning: CL=5.1 PH=7.0 ALK=080 Cranked it back up to 102 (from 80) and shocked it! CL may be a little high... but can't wait to hit it tonight.... although it may be raining a bit. ;-( Really miss that 90+ weather in PV. Anyway... thanks for the suggestions...... much better than draining and refilling.
  10. You know... I didn't even think of lowering the temp. GREAT IDEA. I just got the tub about 2-3 weeks ago so it's not ready for a water change. Your idea of the chlorine sounds good. Would you suggest a fresh shock before going too?
  11. Sorry... I thought my location was shown. I live in Portland, OR area... and it has been known to freeze in November.
  12. Heading to Mexico for a couple of weeks and was planning on draining my 3 week old Jacuzzi J-355 before leaving. I was planning to also drain the pumps. BUT... rather than do that... what do you all think about just leaving it running for 2 weeks. No one will be around for checking the water quality while I'm gone. So what do you think: 1) Drain it? 2) Let it run while I'm gone?
  13. Since I'm a little color blind... haunted me all my life.... I bought an Aqua Check TruTest test kit. It wasn't until I received it that I noticed it doesn't check for hardness? I also have some older test strips (Leisure Time) that also don't have any way to read hardness. Is this as important as other factors, pH, Alk, CL? Does this fluctuate much, once is set at the ideal level?
  14. I've heard mixed opinions on this... just curious.......
  15. Do either of you have the Ozone generator? I had the UV type on my last tub... not convinced whether it's really worth it. The dealer has been pretty cool... is actually steering me away from this expensive option.
