  1. Thanks, the bromine is at 10, so it is high. I will try it again after the bromine goes down. I appreciate your input
  2. Hi There, I have just refilled my spa and have been doing the testing with the Taylor K-2106. The other day when I tested for CH I had a low reading so I added calcium chloride, and today when I tested I get no color at all when I add the 20 drops of R-0010 and 5 drops of R0011L, yet when I use a test strip I get a reading of 250 CH. The other readings are pretty close to the test strip. I seem to remember that this happened before but I don't remember how I corrected it. I really don't want to keep adding Calcium Chloride when the test strip indicates it is within range. Any suggestions? Thanks Ray
  3. Thanks for the reply, Spa Guru, it seemed like it was running more often than necessary, but seems to have slowed down some now. I will leave the default settings.
  4. I have recently accquired my new spa and it cycles automatically for filtering and heating. I have read the booklet that came with it and it describes how to change the settings, however I am wondering how often and for how long it should cycle to provide adaquate fitering. The tub is usually only used by one and no more that two people. Also I have read here that some folks use a submersible pump to drain their tubs, any recommendations on a good pump. Thanks very much, and thanks for recommending the Taylor test kit, it has made things much easier. Rebuck
  5. Right now I am using the test strips, I have a testor, that is rcommended here, on the way. I just picked up some granular acid and it says use 8oz per 10000gal so I will calculate out from there, also I will check out the site you recommended. Thanks.
  6. Is it normal for the TBr to return to 0-1? I shocked it with the bleach and it came up to reading 3-5 yesterday, and have not used it. Today the TBr was reading 1. The PH is still a little high. I haven't seen any table that tells how much muratic acid to use to lower the ph. I have approx. 350 gal and the PH is reading around 8. The ALk is at 80, and CH is comming up slowly. Thanks for any help.
  7. Thanks for the information, it worked! I added the bleach this morning and all levels are pretty much in the normal range. I still have to raise the CH. I really appreciate the information that I have found on this web site. Thanks to all who post. RB
  8. Thanks for the reply Waterbear! I found that explaination after I posted. I will give it a try. Does it matter that the water is hot, the electrician turned the heater on when he hooked up the electrical? I read that your proceedure says to adjust the water " before you turn the heat on ".
  9. This probably been asked before but I didn't see anything jump out at me. I have been reading several of the posts and this seems to be the place with the great information. I had a tub installed on the 6th and filled the tub with about 350 gallons of water and put in the bromine floater with seven tablets, opened three slots as advised by the spa seller. Yesterday I added the packet ( 2.0 oz ) that I was supposed to add when I filled the tub. Today the bromine level is only 1 ; The Alk is 80 which is in range; The Ph is 8.0 , day before yestreday I added 2 Teaspoons of spa down, and today I added another 2 teaspoons of spa down; The CH reads 50. Yesterday I added 1/4 cup of calcium hardness increaser, with no noticeable difference today's reading. Today I added 1/3 cup of Calcium hardness increaser. Also yesterday I added 16 oz metal gone. The readings have read the same for each of the three days that I have tested. The water here is really bad about leaving mineral deposits on everything. I mix the chemicals in a bucket of water then add them to the spa, then run the jets for a while. Does it just take a while for the stuff to work or do I need to try something else. I sincerely appreciate any assistance and advice you may offer, I have been reading several of the posts and it seems that this is the place to be for information. Thanks, RB
