  1. How do I acid it? What do I cap off the other end with?
  2. I found the manual. It just says remove and rinse out with high pressure hose. If that doesn't work, I have to get a kit from Pentair to cap it off, fill it with muratic acid/water and allow it to boil off the scale.
  3. I have a Pentair Intellichlor 4100 and the "check unit" light is green but blinking. How to I clean/service it? It's only about 8 mos old.
  4. She told me that everything was good but no clue why the chlorine was about 0. I've never had a crash course on using the test strips. Guess I'd better find out. Everything was fine but the phosphate level was high.
  5. I have a 22,500 gal gunite pool that is about 8 mos old. Pentair Intellichlor salt chlorinator. I have only added about 10# of salt since Dec. About 2 wks ago, I found a dead rabbit in the skimmer. I dumped 10# of shock and waited 2 days. Water looked great. A few days later, it started to "go green" again. I shocked again 5#. Within a week, I noticed that it was "going green" again. Back to the pool store with another sample. She said chlorine was way low and found the following: Iron,Copper,Allkalinity, hardness, all good. pH was high, so add 3pts of muratic acid. Shock needed again 4#. She also said my phosphate level was way high which could be eating up my chlorine. She said to shock it first, then add a bottle of phosphate remover and said to circulate for 48hrs. Then wash the filters out. I told her I hadn't added salt in a long time. I was never given a course on water maintenance, so I don't know how to tell if it's low on salt other than looking at the lights on the chlorinator unit, which are almost always green. I did add about 20# of salt to the skimmer yesterday, hoping to get me thru the weekend before I dump all these chemicals in the pool. This morning, the water looks much better, but if my phosphates are too high, it won't last, according to her. How often do I need to add salt!
  6. Thanks for the input. I checked what you were saying about the cracks on all expansion joints and almost everyone has a slight crack. I'm still waiting for the builder to call back. I'm giving him until the end of the week.
  7. I don't see any other cracks around the pool in daylight or at night. Several of the expansion joints have the stress cracks in them, but they're very light.
  8. That's what I'm afraid of. The crack appears to be about 2.5' long and is pretty straight. It comes up into the tile area, but the cantilever decking has a hairline crack in the lip and stops at an expansion joint. I don't see where the crack in the deck and the crack in the pool meet, but they're almost on top of one another. I still haven't heard back from the builder yet.
  9. I suppose it was hot that day. It was a bright Saturday morning when it was done. I'm sure it was 90ish. I'm outside of New Orleans. It took about 28 hours to fill it non stop with hoses. I asked if we should fill it quickly (i.e. water truck, fire hose) he said no that it needed to slow fill. He told me not to touch the plaster for a day and not to let the hose move. Also not to let the water stop to avoid a ring in the plaster.
  10. My pool was completed in September. Gunite with cantilever decking. While vacuuming this past weekend, I noticed a thin crack in the 3' section near the steps. The crack is thin and was pretty noticeable until I brushed the sides. I'm thinking I brushed away some accumulated dirt. Upon further inspection, there is a definate hairline crack that runs from the lip of the cantilever deck(the round bull nose part), down about 2.5' about a foot from the bottom. I've got a call in to the builder and I'm waiting for the return call. Not losing any water, but what could be going on?
  11. I did add a little water after he put the 10 bags of salt in, so I'm slowly adding another bag of salt. The light went back to green this morning. After I finish adding the 50# of salt, I'll let it filter for a day or so then get the water tested again.
  12. The pool is about 22,500 gal. This morning, the light is back on green. I'm going to the pool store to have the water tested. Maybe it was a fluke. I bumped up the output for a few hours last night to 80%. I backed it down to 60% this morning. I'll check it again when I get home.
  13. My gunite pool has an Intellichlor IC40 generator. The pool co. came out yesterday and dumped 400# of salt in the pool to convert to salt after initial start up. It's been about a day, and the yellow "salt low" lite is on. I raised the output from 60% to 80%, but no change. I can't need salt that soon. They just put in 400# yesterday. What's wrong?
  14. Any new news yet? How did you make out in the storm? The Sundeck guy came out today and said they'll be out tomorrow weather permitting.
