  1. I am looking for an alternate way of sanitising other then bromine (which I think I am having a reaction too as I am having excema reaction everytime I use the spas) and chlorine as It might do the samething. I thought of salt generator but I dont think they are perfected yet, unless someone can prove me wrong. So I came across this device called Bioniser. I am not too keen on having that high of cooper. Again I dont know much so I am calling on you guys expertise to suggest me a good alternative to my sensitive skin even though I am a man.LOL.
  2. Thanks Richard for your input. After ready all this, it is starting to make some sense as to, before I ran out of SpasGuard O.P. I had to add periodically some TA to maintain it. After putting in 14 ts (2 caps) of Bioguard it brought my PH from 6.4 (witch was low and I was ready to increase it with Pack 100) to 7.2 (this is guesstimation as I am using AquasCheck strips for now) and it took over 24 hours to reach that 7.2 or what ever it may be accurately. This hole thing is kind of fascinating me as long as it is not skin or heath threatening. Conclusion so far is that, if you would agree is that I could play with these two, Spas and Bio to maintain my PH on my weekly dose of optimizerplus! Reason of my saying is if one lowers the PH and the other increases it, I could alternate in a sequence so to maintain the PH only, no?
  3. Well Richard, not that I doupted you but you were write. Spaquard Optimizer PLus is in fact Boric Acide at 92-98% wt. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES PHYSICAL STATE: Solid ODOR: Rose Fragrance APPEARANCE: Granules / powder COLOR: White pH: 5.1(1% solution @ 20oC) VAPOR PRESSURE: Negligible @ 20C VAPOR DENSITY: Not Established BOILING POINT: Not Applicable MELTING POINT: 170.9°C (340°F) SOLUBILITY IN WATER: 4.7% @ 20C SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.0 g/cc MOLECULAR WEIGHT: 61.84dditional is: So I guess it's not the same thing after all. I already bought the Bio and used it once. Can I use the Bio and Spaguard? Maybe Bio on initial then Spaguard there after or visversa. Just a thought so to use up the 7KG. Actualy I am switching my new pool to salt so can I use the Bio into it?
  4. Thanks Pahfinder and chem geek. I already have downloaded the Bioguard MSDS. It's the Spasguard I am curious to see the difference as it also has a defferent scent to it. By the way welcome back chem geek, I appriciate reading your posts (even though I only get part of it as I was never into chemistry) but now that I have a spas you kind of have to know some of it. I wouldn't go as far as making my own potion to match there's but just the fact that I could use same at lower price is appealing and worth the shot. I will send them another E-Mail requesting the MSDS for the spasguard. As far as the ingredients written on the label, well there aren't any. Only the quatities to add in, precautions... Spasguard is 200gr/1000L on initial treatment and add 40/1000 every other weeks. Bioguard is 2KG/10,000L on initial (but into 3 dosage and 1-2 hrs appart) and that is it for the year.
  5. I sent an E-Mail requesing a MSDS over a week ago and still have not herd from them. I know this much, Bioguard is for designed Pools and Spasguard is for Spas. Bioguard is 1/3 the price of spasguard. This is why I am questioning if they are infact the same thing or close anought to as same product or content. Can anyone elaborate on this.
  6. Does anyone know the difference between Bioguard and Spasguard Opimizer Plus aside from the fact that it has different container sizes and different smell? Also is it armfull to have to much of this? How can the level of this be tested?
  7. FYI any time you order from US in the (note ) specify USPS not UPS as the courier. USPS merges nicely with Canada Post and I have never paid duty fees or PST, only GST at delivery. This is something I have experienced everytime I Imported using USPS. Most of the US vendors don't even know this and it is actualy cheaper for them to us USPS. Keep in mind it will take longer to get it but that is the cost difference. Sorry for changing subject but had to mention this.
  8. If I may suggest to you, if you have access to the Pacific line that is is to consider trying the Endeavor model from Pacific. It's 41" deep and 93"x93". So leg room you should have. That one was in the show room when we were first looking at spas but when the wife tried it (dry) it was much too deep for her, she would of have to use a pillow, mind you she is 5'4". We fit perfectly in the Calypso though. So if I may suggest is to add the Endeavor on your list. Happy Shopping!
  9. I haven't tested the Atlantic but looking at the seatings and jets it looks very similar to the Calypso. Too bad I was not able to try that one! I agree with Pathfinder, not that I am pushing the make but simply bring awareness to the excellent package units that Pacific makes. If you budgeted in the 7-8k, I also would say that the Atlantic is worth considering a test. Actually I and others I'm sure would like to know your finding on both if you are able to try them both that is. The Atlantic offer the same 5 package that is available in the Calypso so you can tailor the options to your needs and budget. That would apply to the other makes you mention too, I think. So Steph, keep on testing and retest the two last choices is my best suggestion to you. What the heck it's free. Some people actually pay for a spas session. LOL
  10. Congratulation Waterboy! Glad to have helped you. You will definitely enjoy that spas and all those features.
  11. Jack there are a few manufactures that has some very nice enclosure kits. Here is a link to one of them. calspas.com/gazebos/detail~a~27~b~2006.htm
  12. Thanx for the infos We will try the Calypso tomorrow at Spas & cie in Brossard. The price tag is 10k + taxes $ it's a bit more than the J365 at 8k tx included but we will see if the dealer wants to negociate..... 10K must be for Power or Prestige package. Keep in mind that in spring is when you will get a better deal on Spas due to lot volume from the dealers. You should find the Pacific Calypso to have a very nice seatings, lots of power and quite. We Canadians are fortunate to have this Canadian made readily available to us. Please report back your findings, whether be negative or positive. Happy testing, and have fun at it! Cheers,
  13. Steph, you have narrowed down to a good selection. I'm curious to know if you have looked at or tried the Pacific Calypso. It does fall into same category at lower cost and you get a little more in my opinion. I have that one with the Prestige package, it's awesome. I live in Gatineau not far from you so as you know we have been experiencing some very low temperatures sense November, my Nov-Dec hydro bill has increased by 48$ that is approx. 24$ a month on this kind of weather and we have had some heavy bathing + a refill at - 8C. I'm sure that any spa in your selection will not cost much more then what I am paying. With this said we Canadians are not solely dependent on the Arctic spa as FREDERICKSBURG said. He must see us Canadians as Inuits living in the Arctic or he is a new salesman for Arctic Spas. Steph, if I may suggest is that after wet testing and you narrowed down to, say four (in your case) go wet test again and you will see that you will easily eliminate some of those, making it easier to choose on the remaining ones if any. But as I said if you haven't tried the Calypso, do your self a favor and give it a shot. Happy shopping
  14. I would say it's a very good choice. Yes we do use the lights every night when we use the spas (sometimes we shut it for privacy). As for the fountain well we do use it on the odd times, it does give you a little neck therapy but have to admit that to me it's more for show, sound effect but the kinds do appreciate it most. Don't have the system 3 so I cannot comment on that one. I simply use the built in frog that works wonderfully. Easy to maintain, simply test every day, chock every week, refill the frog cartridge when needed. Something that you may reconsider is the Prestige Package, it has the stereo with the floating remote that not only controls the stereo but the pumps(and speeds) and lights. We like to start at low speed for few minutes then high and finish with low, so the remote is handy for that and for the rest of controllable devices. If we had to choose again and had to decide between the Prestige package or the system 3, I would not hesitate on the Prestige. That is our opinion. What ever you decide you will not regret on the Pacific Calypso as it is powerful and extremely quite. Thank you and yes we and all others do enjoy every soak. Love my spas! Best wishes.
  15. Funny that you ask, as this is very new to Pacific. Yes he gave me the cover but I hear that they will no longer do this as it cost them some $.
