  1. Would it be safe to drink the water in my Hot Tum in the event of a disaster. Bromine is 2-6 PPM, CA is 180-200, Alkinity is about 80 and it have 50PPM of Borates via Gentle Spa, PH is +/- 7.2-7.4 Thanks in advance
  2. I leave my spa for a week + at times and no issues. I do start with a good Bromide bank and will add about 1/2 oz bleach before I leave. The bleach also turns the bromide bank into bromine. My spa is 450 gal and I add 2 oz bromide with every new water and then another 1 oz after 3 months of water use. FYI, my spa frog cartridges are the 200 G and not the 150 so that helps, set to #3 and I change them out every month. How often do you change bromine cartridges, 150 g is good for about 3 weeks, probably shorter set on #6. I also have small ozone injector. Tub is Marquis Epic Do you ever shock with Potassium perasulfate, non chlorene shock? My tub runs for 2 hours every day automatically. Does your have an auto filter cycle that will help keep bromine levels up? Can you adjust the cycle to be a little longer.
  3. I absolutely the neck, shoulder and back jets on my Marquis Epic spa as do other people that use the tub on occasion. In addition, you can croutch down and put the monster foot jets on your lower back, wowzer good stuff. In addition this tub has many other jets and features that make it a joy to own. Just my 0.02 worth
  4. Epsom salts, Magnesium Sulfate can be very beneficial to the skin and whole body. Wondering if anybody has any information about adding some to my hot tub water. Anybody ever done this? Experts, any info or opinion? Thanks in advance.
  5. Have a Marquis Epic hot tub, with in line Bromine and mineral cartridge. Water is couple months old and is adjusted to this: Br usually runs 3-5 PPM Have initial bromide bank at fill and add about spoon full or two of bleach after each use. 50 PPM of broates from Gentla spa New clean filters every month and new BR cartridge every month CH in 170 - 190 range TA runs 60-80 PH usually 7.0 -7.4 Dump 2-4 oz shock, posassum monoperasulfate stuff in every week or so tub runs 2 hr every day in auto cleaning cycle and then 2 hrs, 1/2 hr after each use ( probably important with no use ) Now the problem, normally water is crystal for months and months, we typically use it every day or every other, but if we are gone for a few days 3-4 and tub does not get used, we come home to cloudy water. This is 3rd time this has happened. Clean it up once, dumped 3 mo old water another as unable to get it clear again. Any suggestions as to what to do to prevent this with our occasional travels. Thanks in advance
  6. I and a friend have the same problem. Both currently bromine, he switched to chlorine for 3 months and did not change itchy spots. Both of us recently went on vacation and no tub use and problem went away, then home, 3-4 days in tub 10-15 min and whammo, itchie spots. The spots are on the calves of the legs and outsides of upper arm. 1/4 inch diameter, scalie skin and very itchie. Bromine levels have been from 2ppm up to 6-8 ppm with no change, curreltly running 2-3 ppm. Clean filters monthly and swap, change bromine cartirdge monthly. water SI always close to zero. PH 7.4 ish, 60-80 for TA and 200 ish for CH, plus 50 ppm for GentleSpa (borates) Do not think it is Bromine levels but at a dead end. NOT the little red bumps some people get. Anybody else experience this and what did you discover............. Thanks in advance
  7. My manual says to clean the tubes every 6 months and an acid ( forget what type ) will form and needs to be neutralized. Check your manual for routine maintance.
  8. Got quite a bit of input when from this forum when we shopping for our new tub, so I though I would give some something back with some feedback on our new tub after a couple of months. We bought a Marquis Epic and also got a small step, larger storage step, corner step and then a 2 compartment cabinet that they had to custom size due to the support bracket on our hydroulic cover lifter. FYI, the smaller shelf is perfect for out Taylor test kit. Bottom line is we love the tub, much nicer than my first tub. Basically 2 loungers, which we wanted, 3 seats at different elevation for cooling off a little, 2 monster jets that make my wife make great noises when she puts her feet up against them. The controls are nice, has a scent despenser that we will never use and a couple of watefall spickets that do not get used much either. One great thing is in addition to the qty 2, 3 way valves almost every jet can be manually turned off or on, so if it;s just the 2 of us, we can direct each pump to only a hand full of jets if we want, or if 4-5 in the tub, more jets can be opened for the other people. The ability to turn each pump on low or hi from each lounger is also a nice feature. The hydraulic lifetr is nice, wife does not even grunt when lifting the cover. All in all, we are very happy with the quality, design and features of this tub. Thought I would share in case anybody is interested.
  9. 450 gal Markee tub, water is about 3-4 weeks old. Right after filling I took the calcium level up to the 180 -200 range and it stays pretty constant. TA has been barely above 80, but acceptable and PH fairly stable 7.4 ish. After 2 or so weeks water got cloudy. I had been using approx 4 oz of SHOCK, potassium pesoulfsomethingn, something recommended by my dealer once a week and perhaps 2 oz mid week after a long soak. . Bromine at last test was about 4.0 PPM. At filling and about a week after I added a little extra Bromine. Do have ozonator Wife and I , perhaps 20 min in the morning and a good hour + in the evening. She uses oil on her skin in morning so I am suspicious that may be part of the issue. This last week, I bet I have used 10 - 12 + oz of the shock and , 2-3 oz at a time water clears up some but still not what I want. Suggestions? Input? Also, suggestions on how to increase the TA without affecting the PH. Or do I talk them both up and then take the PH down, and with what? Thanks for the help guys.
  10. Can anybody help me find this thread: Cleaning Spa Filters-what can I use thanks in advance
