  1. I plan on using a regular pool solar blanket in my hot tub during the winter. The question I have is, I also use one of the floating chlorine dispensers, but obviously with the blanket on, the dispenser won't be moving/bobbing around, but will be held in place by the cover, therefore probably not releasing as much chlorine and maybe staining/bleaching the floor. Any suggestions.
  2. I,'m not sure, but I would think they would run right down to nothing in a day or 2
  3. They sound fine and they run on A/C or batteries. We used them for a couple of months in the summer, and they are still on the first set of batteries.
  4. Were you able to take any temperature readings before and after to compare the difference. I did the same thing and although I only got a couple of nights readings before I added the insulation, the difference was quite noticeable. the cabinet dropped to 68F before and about 84F after adding the insulation, even though it was about 10 degrees colder. The air temperature was close to freezing.
  5. The nice thing is, it is just one simple wire plugged into the "audio out" of your stereo, TV, Walkman, Ipod. We have used them in the basement, garage, front yard, backyard. You really do get alot of use out of them.
  6. What we did, when we purchased a spa, without a stereo, was to go to Radio Shack and purchase a set of wireless speakers. They are mounted right to the posts of our gazebo/roof (don't want to make it sound to fancy, because it definitely isn't). We can just hook them on the nail or bring them anywhere we want them. The only drawback is you have to put the stereo or CD on before you go out to the hot tub. It comes with a remote to turn on the speakers and adjust the volume. They work great. We are near a window that we can see the TV, so we simply plug the speaker into the TV and then we can listen to the game while we are in the tub and watch it on TV.
  7. I put 1" foam insulatiion (blue styrofoam on houses) under mine and I haven't had any problems. It is on my deck, then I put down 1/2" marine grade MDO plywood, then the foam, then the hot tub. It seems to be fine and I'm sure it hasn't hurt with a little extra insulation.
  8. I have a Nahanni Spa by Maax, which I just love. I would like to a little extra insulation on the inside of the cabinet. It is the Thermo-pane style of insulation right now. Just wondering if anyone has done this or has any "Do's and Don'ts", they could share. Of course, the company says that theirs is the most efficient system out there, but I'm not so sure. What I am planning on doing is adding 1 1/2" blue styrofoam on the inside of the cabinet and maybe the expanding spray foam in the corners. On the inside of the frame(closer to the tub) I thought of adding that thin reflective insulation. So, the order starting at the tub----- factory sprayed foam, air, reflective, blue stryofoam and then the cabinet. Any thoughts. THanks in advance
  9. Just wondering if anyone uses the Nature 2 system. I wanted to know if you notice any difference in the water and if it does save on chemical use. Thanks,
  10. We are on our second - 110v hot tub and love it. We had the Spa-in-a-box portable and now we have the Maax/Nahanni Blackstone 4-5 seater. We are very pleased with the jet performance and simple convenience of plug-and-play, plus our panel is in an awkward location that would have added considerable expense. We have not had our new one yet in the winter, and the first one, we hardly ever had the jets on, but it was no problem at all. It definitely dropped a couple of degrees but after 30-45r mnutes we are ready to get out anyways. Our new tub will heat when the jets are on low speed, probably only 1-2 degrees/hr. It does shut off if you have the jets on high.
  11. Just got a new tub and love it. I am amazed at how clear the water is, but there are a few flakes of something, floating around in the tub. As I said, very few, but it appears to be flakes of skin. Has anyone else ever noticed that? I am filtering for 2 hours, twice a day, plus the time we are in the tub, which is daily for about 30 minutes. Should I be filtering longer. My filter is a 50 sq.ft. Thanks
  12. I am new to hot tubbing and I read somewhere, that you have to be careful with the ozonator running while you are in the spa. It specifically said to be especially careful with young children. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I read it. Our spa is a 110v-2 speed pump and the ozonator comes on when we have it on the high speed. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks in advance.
  13. Looking for some help. We are ready to purchase a hot tub, and have probably looked at 15 to 20 different brands. We have narrowed it down to the Hydrospa Lexxus or the Gulfcoast LX5000. Just wondering if anyone has any insight in to these 2 models or compaines. Thanks in advance, Mike
  14. Like most questions, to dealers, sometimes the answers are geared towards their products. Some say you need a circulation pump and other say you don't need one. Thanks for your help. Mike
