  1. I would offer $500 Canadian tops! You have no idea how long this spa will last and have no warranty to fall back on. It could fail the first month you have it or last ten more years. It is a guess as to the amount of use versus the repairs needed.
  2. I would check to see if the Costco return policy applies to the Cal spa you are looking at. When we purchased our spa in 2006,The Cal spa was not sold by Costco but rather a "event" that Cal spa was holding through Costco and offering a lower price to Costco members but did not have the Costco satisfaction return policy as the spa was sold through cal spa not Costco. The Platinum II spa I ended up purchasing was sold and backed by the Costco return policy.
  3. that's your opinion but the reality is... NEW YORK JACUZZI - HOT TUB - $3700 (Long Island) 2007 hotspring hottub - $4800 (fairfield ct) PORTLAND Artisian hot tub. - $3000 (sw) ARTIC SPA HOT TUB 2 years old- $4500 (SE FOSTER/112TH) SEATTLE caldera spa hot tub 50jets - $2200 (olympia) Hot Springs Sovereign hot tub - $2500 (Tacoma) HotSprings Grandee Hot Tub - $3750 (Monroe) You get the idea! Three thousand is tops for a used spa. anything more and you can get a goos spa with a warranty.
  4. I wouldn't pay mpre then three thousand with this economy and also being a used spa. you can buy a lot of spas new for 6k.
  5. I think soakerguy is right. My old spa (Platinum III) had the 24 hr circ pump and I thought that it was a great system. The jet pumps would come on for five minutes every few hours. You did hear it inside the house, just as J24 mentioned. I used "spa-flush" on each drain-refill and never got any crud out of the plumbing, so my conclusion was that the 24 hour circ system works. I'm a big fan of perimeter insulated spas, mostly because of the ease of serviceability. But the downside is, I think they're louder than the full-foam models. Wonder how much work it would be to change to a 24 hour circ pump system on the CSXi80? It's on my list of things to check out once mine arrives and I get a chance to examine the details under the hood. Noise is abit of concern for me too, since the neighbor's bedroom is just on the other side of the fence to where my spa will be located. When I added the "reflectix" insulation the noise went way down to just a barely audible hum. I still hear it but to be honest, lets me know all is well when I hear it.
  6. If it is controlled with Balboa controls I am pretty sure that even with a 24 hour circ pump the main jets come on twice daily just a few minutes to purge the lines. My Platinum II spa has a 24 hour circ. pump and it cycles the main pumps breifly twice daily and I was told by the manufacture that was to flush out all the jets/lines as the circ. pump doesn't move all the water in every jet/line.
  7. You should here all the smack talk from Costco about all the " dealer" spas in town! I tell ya, it is dog eat dog out there
  8. Tom, I'm not a regular poster but drop in on this forum from time to time. I want to thank you for your considered contributions to other threads as well, such as the Costco Evolution thread. You have presented knowledgeable, useful, and considerate information. I hope the closing of this door will soon open an even more lucrative and enjoyable window of opportunity. Dave I am sorry to hear about your lay off. I was also laid off after 18 years where I work so I understand what you must be going through. My only advice I can give in trust in the good lord as worrying won't do anything to help the situation. Our family will say a prayer for you and yours!
  9. I would kill the deal personally. how do you think they will respond when no money is involved for after the sale warranty service you may have? Are there other options available to you?
  10. One thing to consider is that alot of times when you add a spa it usually will put you in a higher kilowatt tier on the bill for the cost per K.W. Our spa uses about 300 kilowatts on average multiply that by .08 cents equals $24.00 dollars but wait! the 300 kilowatts puts me in the upper price structure as I then use more then the baseline so I am at .10 cents a kilowatt for a average $30.00 a month for my Costco platinum II spa that is just shy of four years old! I did add reflective foil bubble wrap and sealed with foil tape and that helped bring the bill down after the first year where I averaged $30 in summer to $50 in winter.
  11. I am also looking for a cover and that looks good except that the original was a 5"3" taper rather then the 4"3" taper of the one shown. will that make much of a difference?
  12. What kind of trouble are you having with your Arctic? Mechanical stuff or customer service support? do you feel you got a good price for the value? how old is your spa? I also looked at thermo spas and agree for what you are getting they are extreemly high priced. I would want more for the money or a lot less in price.
  13. I have had my Costco Plattinum II spa four years and still use it three to four times per week and the tub has been flawless with no huge bills as some would suggest here. I am so glad I didn't pay the 8k for a similar dealer spa sold locally but rather the 4k for a awesome spa that I can still return if I wanted to. That is one reason I didn't want to "invest " in a spa but pay cash and not a lot. I would check out Costco and the new "strong" model they have. almost makes me want one!
  14. I have had nothing but good response from s technical advise question, they are very knowledgeable and will literally walk you through any thing you might have to do with regard to programming, adjustments. ect. I am very pleased with the after warranty support I have had for my Platinum II spa that this company made for Costco.
  15. I personally would not accept a spray on bed liner like coating on a cabinet that I paid extra for in the first place. If they cant replace your rusted cabinet panels and make it perform as they said it would being maintenance free and not alter the look then great! Otherwise I would want my money back for failure to deliver a product to perform as stated and not conforming to the warranty that should repair or replace defective panels not simply coat and hide the defective parts. This includes any jet issues you might have. This is simply unacceptable that your spa apparently is rusting away. Let us know what happens.
