  1. There are two types of salt generators . Bromine and Chlorine . they use different salts. Can't say too much about the chlorine generators.but I have been using the genesis bromine generator for 5 years, which i believe is the only one that makes a bromine generator for hot tubs.I just think its fantastic. It's very low maintenace.I literaly open the lid ,soak, get out close the lid and walk away.generators tend to push the ph to the upper end ,but if you keep your ta on the low end.the higher ph is no big deal.if your going to have heavy usage you will have to shock it to keep enough bromine in the tub.otherwise shocking not necesary. water changes once a year.never had cloudy ,foamy water, allways crystal clear, tub shell feels squeaky clean, water has a nice feel to itno corrosion issues, not maintenace free but very close .cost 5 years ago $500.00.highly recomend it be tee'd in with a good 24 hr circ pump J.C.
  2. poolman18 . I been using the system since april 2004 .It has been so easy to use , its like someone else is looking after your tub.they are expensive to install though. mine came with the tub i purchased. they did have some issues with the probes initially but i believe that has been dealt with. I did change mine after 1.5 years. the replacement one is showing very little wear and i can easily see it lasting the 5 year warranty period. I change my water once a year. cost of the bromide salt is about $80.I use the hamilton standard index for balancing the water. once balanced, it doesn't change much . high usage will require you to shock it to maintain a sufficient amount of bromine.otherwise shocking is not required. regards J.C.
  3. i believe your system is the genesis bromine generator by pioneer h20 technologies. They have some good info on their web page. I've been using using the system since april 2004.a couple of years ago on the DR. Spa Q&A message board I posted my thoughts on the system titled,Genesis Bromine Generator [thoughts & opinions]. the only issue i really had on the system was the wear rate on my original electrode which i changed after 1 1/2 years.i was expecting to see a badly worn electrode on the second one after 2 1/2 years but was quite surprised to see very little wear on it .my system runs 24/7 on a circ pump. With a good electrode they should easily last the 5 year warranty period they have on the electrode regards JC
  4. CKLIP, I've been using the genesis system since april 2004.you can Google, pioneer h20 technologies, you will find info on start up ,maintenance & troubleshooting on the system.I also posted my thoughts and opinions on the system a couple of years back on DR. Spa Q&A message board. you could look it up if you search, Genesis bromine generator [thoughts&opinions].you should be adding 2lbs.[1 bottle] per 100 gals.you can shock it with a non chlorine shock [mps] to bring the bromine levels up right away.if your system is tied to a circ pump, you just need to turn the dialer up on the system .if it is on only with the filtration cycle.I would dial up your system to 10 and increase your filtration cycle to 8 hrs. and then make adjustments from there depending on your bromine levels after a few days.if your using it a lot .use the shock when you get out of the tub.there could also be a issue with the electrode or its connections are loose .you should see bubbles forming at the electrode.this is readily seen with the older Tee type electrode tube.in 2008 they came up with a new tube that has the water flowing across the whole electrode .this prevents scaling and build up of bromine which could damage the electrode,I,m not sure how easy it is to see the gas bubbles forming with the new type. good luck JC
