  1. I have the Stay-Rite System 3 and I love it. I do hose mine down a couple of times of year. i was told that I wouldn't need to replace it but every 2-3 years, but make sure when they concrete that extra care is taken to keep the concrete out of the pool. I have the Stay-rite 3 with 17500 gallons. I am sure your size is probably fine. I know mine was oversized. Hope this helps. Thanks
  2. There should be covers over the inserts. You didn't mention whether they are there, but you should be able to adjust the rails. There is a nut that tightens each insert and if the ladder rails or side rails are not pushed all the way down they will not be stable. If there are stainless covers over concrete where the rail goes into the concrete you can easily lift them up and check and see what tool you will need to adjust the rails. You can always wait for the pool guys to come, but once they put mine in I never saw them again. Good luck! Hope this helps.
  3. Hi, I have a 17,000 gal liner pool with a Autopilot system and a cartridge filter. My unit was working smoothly until I boosted on Friday of last week. Then for 3 days the purifier percentage stayed at 100% and was on constantly regardless of the temperature. I realized Tuesday that there was a problem so I started decreasing the purifier manually in 10% increments. I also checked the chlorine level and it was at 4.8. (high) I set it Wednesday at 40% and left it that way for 2 days. I had a friend check it every hour and it never changed, but it did cycle on and off. The pool temp is registering and it is accurate. I have had varying readings from 83-93 and he percentage never changes. I checked the chlorine today and it was at 1.5 so the 40% is pretty close, but I am having to manually adjust purifyer percentage output. I called Autopilot today and they said they have never heard of this happening. I have seen some post from people that have Autopilot's. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Thanks Vann
  4. I have an auto pilot sc-36 cell. It was installed in November of last year and I am pretty sure everything was balanced correctly at time of installation, but now I that I have had problems keeping cholorine in the water and I was on the phone with their support staff today and I have added salt, chlorine and am in the process of adding CYA-I have been adding it to the skimmer, but they told me to broadcast in shallow end. The instructions on the bottle say add to skimmer. Which is right ...skimmer? or broadcast? Thanks
  5. Hi all, I let some leaves build up over a one week period and the steps have leaf stains..I have gotten most of the stain off from just brushing, but there a couple of places that looked stained on the white steps. Is there any suggestions for a product to clean vinyl steps on a vinyl pool? LMK Txs Vann
  6. I am on the last leg of my pool installation and the concrete contractor has ended up being a nightmare. He poured the concrete and an additional slab for my robotic cleaner. The small slab was unlevel and he got about 5 gallons of concrete in the pool, skimmer and all over the steps and coping. I stopped payment of his check and he came back and cleaned up the pool and leveled the small slab, but when the landscaper came today he said it was horrible and he got his level out and check the pitch. 30% of the deck has NO pitch at all and in some areas it leans towards the pool slightly. I know it is better to have a pitch, but would like to know what it can do to the pool without a pitch. Some areas have a pitch and I think it looks OK. I can clearly see the areas that don't have a pitch, but I think I will adjust to it from as asthetic perspective, but would like to know if NOT having a pitch can harm the pool?? Feedback very much apprecitated! Thanks to all who have helped me through this process. Vann
  7. Thanks for the feedback. I had read that it was better to be oversized. We are also on water restrictions so we had planned for a sand filter, but as the restrictions have gotten tighter and our pool contractor has suggested this. my pool will be 21000 gallons, but they don't normally install a cartridge...in fact I think this would be a first, but they have realized they needed to have this as an alternative for the water conservation issues in our area. My concern is that it might not be big enough because they don't normally install this type of filter. The filter they have suggested is a starite media mod system 300 sq ft. I have no clue if this would be appropriate and can only hope they have done the research to know that it should be oversized. have you ever heard of the starite systems? Again--thanks
  8. Thanks for the response! I am leaning to the cartridge for all the reasons you mentioned.
  9. Hi I am getting close to installation and they called today to ask what kind of filter I want. Sand or Cartridge. Does anyone offer any opinions or suggestions on either. I am a novice with the pool stuff. Let me know which filter you use and why you like it or think it is the best choice. I am also getting a salt chlorinator-not sure if it is relative to the filter? Thanks Vann
  10. I am installing a 16x34 ft rectangle vinyl lined pool with 4x8 ft step added. They are planning on installing a 250lb Sand Filter and 1HP hayward pump. I was originally building a 16x32 and they have extended it because or step placement, but they thought I would not need to increase the filter or Pump. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Vann
  11. Thanks for the response. Do you agree that I don't need a timer panel for the pump and cleaner??
  12. I am installing an inground pool in the fall and I have narrowed my choice to 2 pool companies. They both use very different parts, but the price is about the same-- Company #1 DE Filter Hayward Tristar 3/4 HP pump. Zodiac Duoclear chlorinator Polaris 280 cleaner 27 mil liner timer panel for pump and cleaner Company #2 Sand Filter Hayward Super Pump 1 HP Autopilot digital chlorinator Dolphin pro cleaner 27 mil liner I welcome any feedback on the parts that each are using/installing. Thanks Vann he says pump should run all the time--don't need timer panel????
