New In-Ground Pool Not Level

Hello all, we had a new inground pool installed not quite a month ago and we have had problem after problem, one major problem was tha we had two leaks, that were fixed, but the main problem we is that the pool is not level, it is off about 2.5". We called the installer and he came and checked the pool and agreed. At this point the installer thinks it is because the wall panel was never seated in the chanel properly to begin with and then when the pool was filled with water the panel settled in making the pool NOT level. I personnally don't think that is the case as it really sounds far fetched but I need advice on what others think. If you have any input on wether this is a legitimate reason or what are reasons why a in-ground pool would become NOT level can you please e-amil me back? I would immensly appreciate it.

The pool is a Radiant pool, which is aluminum on both sides with 2" of foam insullation sandwihed in the middle. It is a Go Green Echo frienly pool that really doens't need a heater because it is insultated. The manufacutuer is in Albany but I purchased in from an installer in Syracuse NY and I live about 60 miles west in Rochester NY.

I know the pool is not level becaue I measured the top of the water level to the top of the coping and it is off by at the most 2.5". When I called the installer he came out and shot it with his transit and he agreed it was not level. He said he was going to come out and dig up the shallow end because that seems to be where the problem is stemming from but I am skeptical of having someone just tear up part of the pool. To me this seems like just a pach work type job and quite frankly I don't want a new pool that is all patched up. SHould I expect it to be torn out and put back in?

What would be some reasons why a pool would shift as the installer claims it was level when he put it in.

I thought maybe one reason is because not enough concrete was used around the base of the pool. If anyone knows any reason can you tell me????

We paid way too much money to have a problem like this.

I would have the builder start digging to re-install the complete pool. If he doesn't want to own up to the repair request then I would immediately hire a lawyer. Mine is 1/4" out on one corner and I can live with that. We new it before we poured the collar.

2.5" would not be acceptable to me at all that is messed up. You paid way too much for a pool to have such a mistake. Also if you have already had two leaks along with this problem you might want to hire the lawyer anyway before he digs it again.

With that many issues there is no telling what else could be wrong that you don't know about yet.

The Radiant pool design does have a channel the wall slips into so it is possible provided it was only one or two panels that is out the 2.5". Normally they shoot the base with the transit not the finished wall panel. If it was in the track like it should be and the pool was originally level, then there was settling of the ground which caused the issue. Due to Radiants unique design it is possible to do what the dealer is proposing, and it is not necessarily "patchwork". If it is the panel out of the track simply clearing any debris from the track then resetting the panel properly would be a good solution. If however it is the ground that settled then shimming the framing with concrete blocks and then pouring concrete to fill any remaining voids may solve the issue provided the soil is of the proper density. If it is to low in density then there could be more settling in the future. If it proves to be a soil density matter that would not normally be the fault of the pool builder since it is site specific and could be considered a hidden and naturally occurring issue. While you could argue he should have known based upon experience it could be a matter where the soil below the construction level was not dense enough to support the weight and would not have been exposed or evident during construction. If you have doubts about the contractor and their abilities just contact Radiant directly they are based in Albany NY and can send a rep out to look over the situation if need be. At this point I would give the contractor the benefit of doubt but would want the factory Rep to come out when the dealer comes out to correct the situation.

I know this is an old post but, did you get satisfactory resolution on this?  We are having a similar issue with our 20x40 in ground steel wall pool (Pool company out of Weedsport, NY).  We have two skimmers, one in the deep end on one side and one in the shallow end on the other side. There is a 2.5 inch difference when looking at the skimmers.  The pool has water in it but has not been fully finishe.  The company owner acknowledged that it needed to  be fixed and now we haven't heard from him in over a month.  Any advice would be welcome.
