I have a hayward pump that doesn't want to stay primed on the pool suction side. It is plumbed with a jandy valve to select between spa suction and pool suction. On the pool side it is then separated again into skimmer and cleaner pipes with old metal gate valves. When I turn the jandy to spa only suction the pump primes perfectly. Once I turn it over to pool only pump won't prime.. I am guessing these gate valves are just worn out and allowing air to enter the system. One valve is actually stuck and doesn't move at all. Should I just re plumb with 1 1/2 pvc ball valve? I have checked everything else. Lines are clear and impeller and o-rings are all good and in place. Thanks
