Potentially Dangerous Pool Info From Arm And Hammer!

Recommended Posts

The Arm and Hammer website has some really bad pool info. They have a video that states if the pool is cloudy or has algae then the pH is off and instead of 'toxic chemicals' just dump a big bag of baking soda into the pool to make it 'crystal clear"

They also sell baking soda in tab form (like a trichlor tab) and I am afraid that someone is going to think they can use these in place of chlorine.

It seems these baking soda tabs are a Walmart exclusive.

EDIT:

I just called the Church and Dwight consurmer line and complained about this video. They said that they will forward my complaint to the appropriate department. I told them I will be monitoring their website to see if they take the video down or change it.

Their contact info is:

toll-free at 1-800-524-1328

Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET.

Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

469 N. Harrison St.

Princeton, NJ 08540

Perhaps if they start receiving calls about the potentially dangerous info on their website they might change it.

I already saw one thread where someone mentioned the baking soda tablets and I suspect that we will see more.

I can understand that Church and Dwight (parent company of Arm and Hammer) wants to maximize its profits but they are now doing so by publishing wrong and potentially harmful information online.

This is no longer an issue because Arm & Hammer no longer makes claims for their baking soda products doing anything for pools other than adjusting alkalinity and pH. They no longer say anything about cloudiness or algae.
