  1. I live in a small town on the Oregon coast and I believe our water supply comes primarily from rain water. Anyway, the water comes out of the tap at just about the perfect Ph of around 7.4. But the alkalinity is at between 20-30. Calcium is also very low at around 30. My spa manual says the ideal alkalinity for my spa is 125-150. The manual also says to adjust the alkalinity first, and then calcium (which is easy) and then Ph. But after raising the alkalinity to the 125-150 range, my Ph is sky high and I've had to add a bunch of Ph down. This time I was going to try and bring the Ph down first and then adjust alkalinity. But now I'm reading that if Ph is good not to worry about alkalinity? I'm confused.
  2. We've had our Tahitian for over a month. Awesome tub, the lounger is way better than we expected, the lighting is awesome and I can't imagine not having it and the air bubbler actually gives a cool massage. You will really like the Geneva...congrats!
  3. Some more picks of the set-up and view. Still some construction mess around.
  4. The nipple is 'keyed' so it only goes in one way. Even when it's in all the way I still can't seem to get the cap threads started. I can still use the tub by just screwing the cap on by itself.
  5. Here's some pics of it. 1) cap 2) cap with nipple attached 3) inserted into place
  6. First let me say that after 3 soaks in the new Tahitian this tub is awesome! It works flawlessly, great flexibility in controlling the flow and pressure, the lights are very relaxing...I love everything about it so far. As for the lights, they are standard in the Caldera Utopian series, but if you have the option in whatever brand you choose then I suggest getting them. For the small cost it's worth it as they add so much ambience, IMO. I know that others think they are useless but I can't imagine not having them. Anyway, there is a diverter or control for the neck jets in the EcstaSeat and I turned it too far and it came unscrewed. I can't seem to get it back on. There is a valve or nipple looking thing that screws onto the cap in a counter-clockwise direction. Then you can push the cap into the hole and then the cap screws onto some threads in a clock-wise direction. Well I can't get it to screw on. Is there a trick to it? Here's a pic of the control I'm talking about.
  7. Thanks for the reply. Dumbass me didn't realize the spa started heating automatically when power was applied so by the time I asked the question the water was already 103 friggin' degrees Anyway, not real happy so far with the start-up kit. One of the first steps is to adjust calcium hardness but for some reason they don't include the CH increaser in the kit The water where I am is literally rain water and very clean and soft. Right out of the tap, and according to the test strips, I would say virtually no chlorine, maybe 20ppm alkalinity, 6.8-7.0 pH and CH at around 50ppm. I've added some Spa Up, which is basically the only thing they include in the kit (and Spa Down) for actual water balancing, so I'll check again in a while and guess I'll be looking for the CH increaser tomorrow.
  8. Man, I've had this thing sitting there for 2 months and I'm finally getting started. I had the spa delivered before the new house was completed so now we're finally in! So the spa guy finally showed up to install the cover lifter and I've got the tub filled. Only problem is he brought a bromine kit (without asking first) and I have decided I want to use chlorine. So he's supposed to be back this afternoon with the right kit so my question is....can I start heating the water up before I put the chems in? The water temp right now is around 53% and he will probably show up in around 3 - 4 hrs. This is a 360 gal. tub. Thanks!
  9. Sorry... I guess I should have said 'surrounded' by 10 million other people. The sad thing about S. Cal. is that you put any of those "couple hundred thousand" in a car and they automatically transform into a jerk (at least until the drive is over). I think it comes as a standard option there Great view in the pic though!
  10. Along with about 10 million other people unfortunately, 1/2 of which are royal jerks. Sorry, I just moved away from the general area mainly because of those reasons.....no offense to you of course
  11. That is an awesome spa and that's a killer deal. Good job!
  12. The Geneva is in the Utopia line, which is Caldera's top of the line. It is much larger and deeper, and comes standard with a lot of the things that are options on the 641R (ozone, dura-siding, waterfall, lights). The Geneva holds 125 more gallons, is 5" bigger around on each side and 4" taller. I went and paid for my Tahitian yesterday and took another look at the Geneva and it is a huge spa. It probably comes down to the size you are looking for. The 641R actually compares more favorably to the Caldera Martinique maybe, although the Caldera does have fewer jets the therapy is probably pretty close and the price is probably about the same. The 641R looks like a really nice spa and was one I considered for awhile and you can't beat the price. BTW, those are very decent prices for both assuming the Marquis has all the upgrades.
  13. Consumers have no problem with flat, no haggle pricing if they feel it is,indeed, genuine. Saturn tried this and it worked pretty well. Some other car dealerships use it occassionally. With the advantage of the internet today, any smart shopper will have a good idea ahead of time what's a good price and what's not. Most people hate haggling and the salesmen (in general) know this. So if the sales establishment has a no haggle, lowest price policy they should make it known up front. Otherwise I, as a consumer, am going to expect room to negotiate when it comes to higher priced items like houses, cars, jewelry and spas. Salesmen on commission and business owners of course want to get the best price they can. But so does the consumer. If the price the consumer is looking for is unreasonable the salesman will let you walk. Then the consumer can re-evaluate his position. I don't quite see what's wrong with that.
