sargent 1
Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the wire that runs throught the concrete to the pool light niche without ripping out the concrete deck or concrete wall in the pool, bought a new light just to find out its the wire buried in the concrete not the light,or does someone make a led battery operated light thatcould go in its place. The wire is part of the light fixture and not separate. The light fixture is mounted in a light niche attached to a conduit to the power so you can attach a line to the old one after disconnecting it from the power and pull it through out the niche. Attach the line to the new power cord on the new fixture and pull it back through. If you are not sure about this then hire a pro to do it for you. Marin
Yes they used conduit 40 years ago. Often the wire inside will swell and/or stick in place. Open up your junction box and put a few drops of Dawn dish soap down the hole towards the light. Do this for several days in a row. It will loosen up the wire inside the conduit. Cut the old wire at the old light. Tie it to the wire of the new light (I place them end to end then wrap with heavy duct tape) and pull the old wire from the junction box side. Once you have the new wire, trim it as needed and splice.
