  1. I checked my water about every two weeks. Moderate user (maybe once a week. I just saw tested and found chlorine level through the rooF (off the scale actually) and needed Acid, also off the scale. Water had a yellowish appearance. So I added a bit of Muriatic and the water turned very yellow. What am I doing wrong. Last test was OK. Added ¼ oz of acid and was great. What am I doing wrong. Use a test kit.
  2. My pH rises over time (the latter) of about 3 weeks. Today I measured the TA at between 70-80ppm, just on the low side. It was ~100 before. I feel I should raise the TA with Alkalinity Increaser. Do you agree? Bromine is right on @~5.0. Hardness was right before, but I have not checked it this week. Water has that bromine smell, but otherwise seems quite fine.
  3. Thanks, Chem. l'll try to answer step by step (haven't figured out the formatting quite yet): 1. Ozonator built-in, cannot be turned off. Runs when spa is either at low (just filtering) or high speed. Air injection can be controlled. 2. Use about every couple of weeks, more often in winter (weekly). 3. Two person spa. Usually that's the people load. We're in it for about an hour. 4. My dealer did the start up, don't know exactly what was used. It seemed stable until I got a test kit. 5. I use the Spa Frog floater (dual pack- bromine, crystals). I have closed the floater ('0' on the metering, normally at '2') to let the bromine deplete. 6. I added 2 oz. of Alkalinity Booster to bring up the Alkalinity measurement and pH is now 7.8. Hence the statement on Acid Demand. The TA now runs high (where the 'pool store' measured at 0) =120. That is stays a/o Sunday. Temperature was at 99°. BTW, where are the format settings on this board? All text is centered and numbering or bullets don't seem to work.
  4. P.S. Please get rid of obnoxious ad popups every two minutes, when posting to this forum.
  5. Newbie to this form but not to pools, water maintenance, etc.Have been going to a (nameless for now) well-known Pool Store nearby for help about setting up my spa water chemistry. They are USELESS at solving spa problems. Testing of my water at a different temperature from what I experienced and what I read on these pages is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from water balance tests in ambient temperature both as to Chlorine, pH, and TA. As a result of their skewed (being kind) advice, I have been having serious acid/akalinity bounce, ±2.0. Now I have questions here: 1. Is it better to start over (e.g., dump the water) to get the chemistry right?? 2. If otherwise, and I can get a handle on water history quickly, I'd like to corral the water settings. Can I do it given the fluctuations? My Bromine level (Br) is now off the chart ~12.0(?), and my pH= 7.8. Acid Demand = ~80. Water temp (measured on the SpaCrest sensor)=99°F. SpaCrest (recommended) runtime 7 days, 7-11A, 11P-3A). 3. Is run time correct? 3.
