  1. I like my Jacuuzi J-280. Although they offer the 5 year warranty, when some of my LEDs went out and there is a rust stain under the waterfall, the company rep told my "Accessories aren't covered under the 5 year warranty". I am more pissed that every piece of metal contacting water isn't stainless steel?
  2. The vinyl on the bottom of my cover has intentional holes in it with metal grommets. Why is that?
  3. My cover on mY 5 year Jacuuzi J-280 seems to be getting heavier. It looks to be just white styrofoam and vinyl. Cheap foam coolers don't absorb water. Where would the water go?
  4. You need some sort of fiberoptic lighting kit, then drill holes wherever you want the lights to be. Then mount the unit and run the fibers to each light. Then somehow connect it to the main board for power, adding some sort of switch. Are up to it?
  5. I had the "mudjacking" raise a sidewalk in front of my house. Only cost a few $100 and done quickly. They drill a hole in the slab and inject high pressure cement to raise it. When cured it is an even stronger foundation than before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete_leveling#Slabjacking
  6. Thanks, and I take full responsiblity. I've always stayed on top off it well and never had a water issue. the summer just flew by, I guess. I assume if I know it won't be used for 2-3 months, I should still keep water in it? I let the Spa Purge run in it for about 4 hours and the put my pump in to drain it. It is a FLotec 1/6 HP that is fast, but bulky so it's hard to get the low and odd areas. I scrubbed every square inch with Formual 409 and a brush. Judge Smails would have been proud. I refilled to 2/3 full, addded a couple quarts of bleach and ran it for a few minutes, then drained again. Now it's refilling again. I'd still like to know what it was and if it is hazardous to people? I took a few pictures as I cleaned it.
  7. I have a 5 year old Jacuuzi J-280. We use it for 3 seasons and not much in the summer. I turn the heat to 80, though it never seems to run. Occasionally my Boy and I will use it like a kidde pool, but mostly It just sits on ECO mode. I though a few bromine tabs in the floater when I think of it. Never had an issue until today. There is this cream colored slime throught the tub, on the floater, on the filter, everwhere, It looks like little pea sized or smaller droplets clinging to everything as well as a film. I threw in a bottle of Spa Purge and it's running, and I'm going to drain & refill later today. I am sure poor maintenance casued it, but any idea what it was? How to clean it out after I drain it? Here is a picture of the filter, I'm afraid I started to rinse it before I got my camera.
  8. Well I unplugged the Ozonator and it has been on for 48 hours. I'll wait a week to decide if it is the culprit. I am not sure if I should replace it or leave it off. "if you have a FP/SL gfci it may be the problem they have had the CSA rating pulled in CANADA because fo this type of issue " I am not sure what FP/SL means, but my box is this one: http://www.connecticut-electric.com/CutSheets/_Spa%20Panel%20Cutsheet.pdf
  9. So I called the place I bought it from the Service Dept was very helpful. He said he could ship the fitting to the store for $2.50. I mentioned that a FL2 message has been on for some time. He says it may be a pressure switch and for a $50 service call, he could change it and the fitting. I agreed and filled it back up with water the night before so he could test it. He came while I wasn't home and the receipt says he also changed the circuit board, all for $50. He dialed it up to 102F and when I got home, I did a little chemistry to get the new water in balance. The next morning I looked out and the breaker was blown again. I tried several times during the day, and it wouldn't reset, meaning a dead short I assume. the next day I spoke with the Tech and he said to unplug the ozinator to see if it is the problem. Before I did that I tried the breaker and it did reset. What could be a dead short that is intermittent? I currently have it running with the ozinator unplugged and will have to see if it happens again.
  10. Today we get in the tub, turn on all the jets, the heater is on too and 10 minutes later the 60A breaker blows. I tried resetting it and it won't. So we sit in the water for a while and get out. I try the breaker and it resets. I go and get changed and come out and the breaker is tripped again. I opened up my paperwork file and it is 1 week after my 3 year warranty is up. I reset the breaker again and turned on the pumps and heater and it ran for a few minutes so I turned off the breaker so I could have a look inside. As I took the side cover off, I notice water dripping out of the corner. I found a plastic fitting leaking. The water was running near where the 220V comes is, so I hope that is my breaker problem. I drained the tub entirely and pulled the broken piece out. Then, luckily, I was able to extract the threaded piece from the pump. I found few things strange: There was teflon tape and an o-ring. I work in the automotive and equipment industry and I am quite sure that fittings are only supposed to have 1 method of sealing. Pipe thread with tape, o-ring, compression, flange, etc. When I see a guy putting telfon tape on a fitting with another sealing method, I know he is a newb or a hack. And if you look at the picture, it looks like the teflon was covering the opening? I wonder if someone at the factory cracked the fitting and then taped it? I am going to Home Depot to look for a fitting, hopefully a brass one. If no luck, I guess I try the spa store tomorrow.
  11. Last night I was in my 2008 Jacuzzi J-280. There is a waterfall on the side and I found an o-ring about the size of a quarter coming out of it. I had all the pumps on high and I turned the valve that diverts pressure from one area to another all the way to one side, whereas I usually keep it in the middle. I don't know if it matters, but it might be a clue. Any idea how a o-ring could come loose and into the pressure stream?
  12. I added foam boards for perimeter insulation and some plastic wrapped insulation too. The bubble stuff sounds good. http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.ph...c=13221&hl=
  13. I really only want to use the tub when it is cool or cold outside. I think using it in the house would be more like a bath.
