  1. My wife and I are kinda of in the same boat as you... We bought a house 2 months ago and it came with a (neglected) hot tub. Read everything you can on this forum, particularly when it comes to decontamination and ongoing sanitzation. Definitely don't be afraid to ask questions.
  2. Depending on your filter type costco.ca seems to have decent prices for Pleatco Pure (for us Canadians anyway...) I just received my K-2106 from Apollo Pools in Quebec as well.
  3. If I use a scumbug in the tub, should I be at all concerned about it being sucked into the system with no basket in place?
  4. I'm sure they're common, but I'm not sure how to measure them aside from the diameter... From a Tiny Might Pump union: From a Gecko S Class heater tube (yeah, it's awful looking...) From a 4HP Waterway Executive pump intake (not sure on frame size) From the discharge of the same Waterway pump...
  5. So I think it's an American Product Luxury Micro Jet.... But the face is a little large (2.5" vs this one around 3.25")
  6. So I'm having a tough time here... The spa I've inherited is apparently a 2002 Savannah Spa Mirage, however, I've found a plate on the spa that identifies the model as a "Monaco" and I've seen dates stamps on various pieces of equipment from 1999/2000. I'm stumped now, I've pulled some jets but now I'm struggling to identify them. Help?
  7. Thanks guys. The kit was kept in a dark/cool basement, but I'm guessing it's around 5-8 years old, so it's probably largely useless at this point?
  8. I've been told/read a well maintained, proper fitting cover is one of the best things you can do to keep the bills down. Next to that, keeping the temperature down a few degrees can also make a difference. Winter is prime hot tub season!
  9. I found one left over from the previous owners. I still plan on picking up a K-2106 kit, but is there anything from the leftover that can be used/salvaged? Thanks!
  10. As another Canadian, thanks again Spanky for the great info!
  11. It's a 2002 Savannah Spa Mirage (manufactured by MAAX), I know replacement parts are out there but not the easiest to get shipped to Canada. Thanks for the help!
  12. (see my other posts regarding the tub I've recently become owner of...) Ideally I'd like to replace them, but should I be concerned about running the tub without these in the short term? i.e. will it cause any damage? In terms of replacement I see different websites have doors/foam and baskets for sale but no measurements are indicated.
  13. More than likely you'll be OK but I wouldn't try anything stronger than vinegar (Don't put Muriatic Acid anywhere near it) $199.99 is about as good as it gets for a Tiny Might in Canada. There are some U.S. sources but by the time you pay shipping & brokerage it's not wotht it Didn't get a chance tonight but I'll see tomorrow what straight vinegar will do. After staring down the tube for a little while it looks like the element is warped slightly (which probably explains why it doesn't slide out of the sheath easily). Also looks like someone damaged the epoxy seal at one time or another...! It probably hasn't died yet as the spa pack is mounted vertically and water won't settle as nicely into the electrode. I'm really hoping I can manoeuvre the element out of the sheath, it will be a lot cheaper than purchasing a complete new assembly!
  14. Thanks, I'll give it a shot once I'm up and running. Per that thread I posted I have the heater sheath removed right now and am using vinegar to clean up what I can on for element build up. Still need to order a new circ pump and various seals.
  15. Forgot to mention, the circ pump is seized, I can barely turn it if I put effort into it. Cheapest Canadian retailer I found is here: http://www.poolandhottubdepot.com/waterway-tiny-might-230-volt-pump/ I have the heater tube/sheath removed but I can't remove the element unless I bend it slightly (which I'm not sure if I want to try...) I duct taped one end of the tube and filled it with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water, after some bubbling I found some calcium was removed. Is it safe to use 100% vinegar for a short amount of time then rinse thoroughly with water?
