  1. I want to thank you as well!! I had the watchdog error a few days ago, and with the temps dipping to -24C here I was freaking out. I did the blow dryer trick and worked great to get things flowing again. I am going to the local electronics shop tomorrow and will let all know how things turn out with the capacitor swap. I will try to document it with pics as well. Thanks for saving my tub......so far. haha Mine is the Jacuzzi J470 which is pretty much the same board from what I understand.
  2. Hey Richard.......could it be because my CYA is @ 100ppm? I was using straight Dichlor for too long, so my CYA level went through the roof. I need to do a partial drain to lower it. I don't think I'm a dirty guy, lol!
  3. I tried adding dichlor for a while after each use, but my CYA levels went through the roof. I have since switched to the bleach method which doesn't raise your CYA. Seems to be working so far. Oh, I use the ProClear system and ozonator on my Jacuzzi tub.
  4. Thanks for all your responses guys! This forum ROCKS!! I've been using the bleach method for a week now and love it. I have a Jacuzzi j-470........it's 410 Gal (or 1500 L)......what should be the proper amount for 1 person soaking for 1 hour.......I've been adding about 150 ml 1/2 hour before, and about 200ml after a soak. I add before because my Chlorine levels seems to be very low. I'm running ProClear and an ozonator.
  5. Hey Richard! Thanks for the quick response!! I feel much better now.
  6. I just purchased some bleach from the store today. It is No-Name brand here in Canada from The Superstore. It is 6% Sodium Hypochlorite Ultra Unscented Bleach.......the question I have is that it has a bit of a yellow color to it. Is this okay to use?? Also, my CYA measured at 100ppm today.....I know, too much Diclor........how can I lower it other than a partial drain? Thanks, Steve aka SAFASTRO
  7. Well......I've gotta say, I've only had my tub 2 months and was in the same boat as Joanne was, except my water stayed milky after the jets were off. I too live in Calgary, and think I go to the same dealer as she does. I also use the Proclear system. (Nature 2 is actually stamped on the cartridge) I had the same problems, that once I did my "weekly maintenance", (add scum free, the super clarifier, the secure) that my water started turning milky. I'd do what they said by adding more sanitize to get things somewhat cleared up, but would get milky after a few days again. Still......all readings were perfect! This last week, I met someone new at the dealer, and he recommended I use 100ml of Wham-O to get rid of any algae or living thing in my tub. I did buy my tub used from the dealer, so maybe it wasn't disinfected properly before delivery. Anyways........next morning......low and behold.......clear water, like I just refilled the tub!!!! No problem since, and now I HAVE NOT been using the scum free, the super clarifier, or the secure each week. I only shock before and after each soak, and has been great so far!!! But I'm still crossing my fingers! If anyone else is experiencing cloudy water.......try Wham-O or something similar. If something is growing in your tub, this stuff does the trick.
  8. Hey murphy.....if no one responds here......Jacuzzi Jim over here www.whatsthebest-hottub.com sounds to be the Jacuzzi guru. Good Luck!
  9. Thanks for all the input.......I figured it out myself........
  10. How can I tell if my ozonator is working? When should I see the bubbles? I bought a used '06 model, and haven't seen any bubbles. Does the ozonator only work during certain cycles?
  11. Well.....yesterday went pretty well. The guys did a great job. They took a sample of water back to the store for testing, and in about an hour or so gave me a call to let me know what to add. Pretty good service, I'd say. Now I'm trying to lower my pH a bit, then all should be good. I'm supposed to bring in a water sample to the Jacuzzi store to check all my levels on wednesday. I'll try to post pics soon, I just need to create a hosting account first.
  12. Well......I'm finally getting delivery of my new Jacuzzi J-470 today. It took me a while to get things all wired up......I did the wiring myself.......it's just been so cold here the past 3 weeks, that I haven't gotten around to it. Today it's supposed to be about 0C, then get a little cool and snowy again after that. I'm getting the thing craned in over my back fence, as I back onto a main street, and have city fence to deal with. I'll get some pics up hopefully tomorrow. Wish me luck!!
  13. Hey Rockdoctor......I'm kind of in the same boat you are with the temperature thing. I live in Calgary also, and Jacuzzi Calgary is supposed to deliver my tub on the 22nd. I still have the responibility to run the electrical for it, but it's been too freakin cold. Today is about my best bet at -10C........but I think I may hold off til after Christmas. I wanted it in before......but I guess the weather ain't thinkin so.......also, Jacuzzi Calgary is supposed to come by and give a pre-delivery inspection, and I'm guessing they won't deliver it until the weather warms up. Keep us informed......
  14. Here is what we ended up with: - Used 2006 Jacuzzi j-470 - Platinum shell color - Silverwood cabinet color - Cd Player w/ radio and MP3 hook-up (no IPOD docking station) - free upgrade to the Proclear Mineral System - free CoverMate III - free delivery/installation/hook-up/start-up - 3 1/2 year parts/labour warranty - 8 1/2 year shell warranty
  15. Hey Tony, Thanks for the heads up!! I will definately be checking with the dealer on that one. We just came back from wet testing a CalSpa Cba48. Not too bad of a tub, but you can sure tell the difference in quality. We just made a verbal agreement with Darren from Jacuzzi Calgary, and from the things I've read and heard, we will be in good hands. Thanks for your input.
