Pathfinder Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 It shows what a new and somewhat unbiased person to situations can do sometimes. Hope all goes well Quote
Tom Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 I am puzzled as to why a moderator who has a vested interest in the subject spa company is permitted to participate in (or even spearhead) the decision to lock a thread and/or ban a poster (albeit, in this case, temporarily). Sorry to have disappointed you. No action was taken without consultation among the three moderators. The Sheriff and his deputies are still learning how to work together as a posse. Quote
Richs100 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Sorry to have disappointed you. No action was taken without consultation among the three moderators. The Sheriff and his deputies are still learning how to work together as a posse. By now you have learned that Atali's situation appears to have been resolved. Tom: Just so we are clear, I am not suggesting an involved moderator should consult with other moderators. On the contrary, I am suggesting that a moderator who is connected with the hot tub company under discussion should excuse him or herself from the decision making process in such cases. The moderators who are not connected with the manufacturer in question should be the ones to make any such decisions on their own. I just think it makes for a system that will appear much more fair and unbiased. And yes, I saw Atali's post. I am very glad the situation worked out for him. Artic has worked hard to earn its good reputation, and it was painful to watch Artic get hit with what was beginning to look like a self-inflicted wound. With all due respect, Tom, I think there was a better way to handle what was happening on this board. I really hope you take these suggestions in the helpful way they are intended. I certainly have no beef with you and I like Artic tubs. It was just the handling of this particular situation that I disagreed with. Rich Quote
Chas Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Richs100 said, "For what it's worth, in the past I have understood and respected the decisions of the moderators on this board. (I don't understand why Jim-the-Jim hasn't been banned, but that's another subject) " Allow me to shed some light on that. We do not own this board. We don't draw a paycheck. We aren't even on the guy's Christmas card list. In fact, I pay good money to have an ad in his magazine. Yet we have been asked not to ban the person in question. Once again: it is not the moderators who have made the choice not to ban. Now as to Tom being impartial - please keep in mind that this is not some sort of contract negotiation or big-ticket sale here. This is a discussion web board. If somebody else from Arctic wanted to weigh in, they would also be able to do so. If I wanted to offer an opinion, I could. If you wanted to chime in, so be it. But if any thread ends up going nowhere, or going in smaller and smaller circles - like this one did for awhile - we may let it rest until something new comes up. And the fact that Tom is the mouthpiece for Arctic only gave him the chance to do exactly what he did: call the factory and ask what's up, and then report back. I am glad to have you around - your opinion is just as important as anyone else's here. Quote
Richs100 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Chas: Thank you for providing the information about why Jim the Jim is not banned here. It has been a question that I have pondered for a while. And since I could not rationalize the treatment of Atali Awa and that of Jim, I made the decision that I was not going to participate further in bashing Jim until I could figure out why Atali was shut down but not Jim. This was the reason why I deleted my posts in the recent thread about the Tong and Rogers report. It may sound silly, but that's the thought process. As to Tom, as I see it, the issue is not whether he is impartial or not. Its the integrity and appearance of the Board. As I think was demonstrated by recent events, Tom's direct participation in dealing with Atali Awa did not look good. And no matter what, there was no way it could have ever looked good. Tom has a direct interest in the issue since he is an Officer of Artic. For appearance sake alone, he should not be involved disciplining a poster under these circumstances. For the same reason, IMHO, I don't think it would look good for you to be involved in taking similar action against a poster in dispute involving Hot Spring. And understand that I DO NOT INTEND TO IMPUNE THE INTEGRITY OF EITHER ONE OF YOU. I am just suggesting a way that I think the moderating process will be free from any possibile appearance of bias, influence or unfairness in the future. Finally, although I may be wrong, I personally think the airing of Atali's issue on this board may have had a positive effect on the resolution of the dispute between him and the Artic dealer. And its always a good thing to have a happy customer on board again. And now, back to our usual programming....... Jim the Jim: where is that damn Tong and Rogers report????? Quote
Atali Awa Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 I have positive news to report... The subject dealer has a new sales manager who has contacted me and offered to replace the spa and the chemicals. We just had a very productive telephone conversation and will be meeting tomorrow morning to finalize the details. We also share a common goal in wanting to mend our relationship. Stay tuned... I'll keep you posted!!! Talked to my dealer this morning... The new spa will be delivered a week from tomorrow and we are really looking forward to it. The 2007 design changes look really cool. We're also building a 400 sq ft deck above the spa at the end of June... I'll wait until it's finished to post the pics. Quote
Richs100 Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Atali Awa: That is great to hear. Looks like you will be "back in hot water" in no time! Now, NEW SPA RULES: You must use either Dichlor or Bromine. No new fancy, schamancy chemical systems! A little baking soda or a little pH down. Maybe a spritz of diluted Anti-Foam every once in a while. NUTTIN' ELSE! GOT IT? GOOD! Rich Quote
soakerman Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 It sure is nice to hear something go right for a change! I think that is great news about your spa Quote
Artic Cub Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 All, I also bought from the worthless Manassas location 2 years ago; turns out the sales guy who went to work for Artic Corp. now runs the "new" Fredericksburg office and I've been informed to contact him for quality support. Overall, a quality hot tub; although I've gone through the BS with jets also. As of today's service call that has taken 3 months to get done: > Artic Corp. - Perry Louis has been most helpful with resolving some of my issues with Manasses and letting Stan know service/warranty issues are not acceptable. [email protected] > Artic Corp. is officially telling dealers to not recommend Baqua products due to Jet /Plastics issues and are stating it will void your warranty. > My dealer is sending me full replacements of all my jets with the latest version; if you havent seen them, they are 1/2 black and 1/2 gray on the face of the jet and "click" when they are put in; much different from the old ones. We'll see how long they last now that I've changed from Baqua back to Bromine. Quote
104 Degrees Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 please let us know. they look like they make a nice tub. Quote
Tom Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 > Artic Corp. is officially telling dealers to not recommend Baqua products due to Jet /Plastics issues and are stating it will void your warranty. Arctic Spas apologizes for any confusion that may exist over this issue. Corporate stores were instructed to cease carrying and recommending the product in late April. Independent dealers were advised of this in early May. Customers will be advised through the consumer newsletter in June, and by their dealers. If you are an Arctic Spas or Coyote Spas owner who has been using a biguanide product, and you switch to a factory-recommended sanitizer, your warranty will continue in full force. ================= In a statement issued July 10, 2007, President and CEO Darcy Amendt said, "We are only requesting that dealers not recommend Baqua for our products. We have no plan at this time to not honor warrantee when Baqua is used." Quote
