"mini-pool"? (austin Area)

Hi -

Last year while in Acapulco, we had a "mini-pool" on the outside terrace of our room at our resort. It was about 6x10 & about 3 ft deep. The water constantly flowed out over all four edges, into a gap between the pool & deck, and then down under the pool (at least that was our guess as to where it went). Despite being 95+ degrees, the pool remained cool and was so fun/relaxing to just hang out in.

Just wondering if anyone has any information on a pool like this.... I'm curious to find out if it's possible to do this in Texas rock/soil and how much it might cost.
