We just installed an Intex SWG and we need to know that running the pump on low speed pushes the minimum gpm required??????

We are installing the Intex SaltWater system. I put the salt in for 24 hours to disolve. I have to run the PUMP ONLY without the Chorinator for 24 Hrs. I started the pump and immeadiately shut it down. There appeared to be very cloudy water coming into the pool? This is 18' X 48" above ground pool / 26" Baquapure,2.5 H.P. 2 speed pump. The pool had been emptied since the water was very green. Should we try to fill the ball or back wash the pump? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
