  1. I have an ingound pool with a DE filter. A wall eye had started blowing bubbles so I figured it was time for a filter service. I took the DE filter apart and cleaned the grids. All appeared to be in good shape. I put everything together and it's been running for a few hours now. The eye that had been blowing bubbles is worse than before. This wall eye is closest to the pump equipment. What causes this?
  2. I have an older pool, maybe 12 years old, I bought the house as a foreclosure so I dont really know, but I was wanting to drain and clean the pool. I've been in my house for 3 years now and have learned a lot about pools in that time. I now understand about CYA or cyanuric acid and what elevated levels can mean to trying to keep the pool algae free and because my CYA levels are way high I'm gonna drain and clean the pool. I had a nightmare of a summer last year trying to keep the algae out of my pool because in addition to the CYA issue I also had pool water leaking by my backwash valve so my ability to properly filter the pool water was diminished. I dont really want to do an acid wash because the plaster is old and pitted and I cant afford to have the pool replastered right now so what would be recommended to clean the plaster and be sure to kill any algae?
  3. O.K. now that I think of it I'm probably not supposed to ask for specific vendors so let me ask a different question. My pool is funky shaped, kinda kidney shaped but pulled out at two corners. If I measure the total width X total length it measures 21' X 29.6'. I need to purchase a leaf net in the worst sort of way but the closest I can find measures 24' X 44'. What do I do with the extra 14 or so feet? Can I roll it up after using water bags (or other method to weight down)?
  4. I purchased a foreclosed home 3 years ago and it had a pool, my first experience with a pool. I dont know how old the pool is but I'm guessing about 10 years. The plaster is stained and I need to have it acid washed next spring. I have a DE system with one 2 1/2 horse power pump that drives the system, including my pool sweep (works off the discharge). The chemicals and algae have driven me completely insane this year, I didnt know about elevated levels of CYA for the first 2 years so this season was miserable trying to balance everything. So what I'm looking for is a specific recommendation for a contractor in the Dallas area that can rehab my pool system. Clean up the plaster, recommend a good combination of a separate pump for the sweep, and maybe a chlorine generator. I guess what I'm saying is a complete overhaul of my system without having to give up my first born. Any thoughts?
  5. Thanks for the replies, good ideas. I may just drain next spring and acid wash the whole pool.
  6. Anybody?
  7. They are pretty persistent. After 2 seasons they have not altered much, even after major shocking. http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/5700/p8290086.th.jpg' alt='p8290086.th.jpg'> Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/img] Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  8. How do I go about getting rid of plaster stains? I purchased a foreclosed home with a pool. This is my first pool and for the most part everything has gone well. The pool obviously was not taken care of for some time prior to me buying the house. The back yard is surrounded by a lot of trees and I think that falling leaves are what stained the pool. Goodness knows there was a ton of muck when I cleaned it out the first time. Do I have to replaster? the plaster looks good, no cracks, just stains. How to go about removing the stains? I cant get an image attached for some reason, dont have the time to figure it out right now.
