Tried muratic acid, Vitamin C tabs in a sock, and Jack's Magic Stain ID kit again....no luck! The guy from Jacks Magic thought it might be some sort of scale covering the stain which is why the products aren't working, but the ID kit did not pick that up. I put some muratic acid and Jacks Magic purple stuff and he said to keep using that. Does this sound right or does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas. Thanks quantumchromodynamics for your help! I have a couple of pics, but I am not quite sure how to insert them in the post.

It could have been something that came out of the returns....there are two returns on the steps. However, the stains on the liner are directly accross, but on the opposite end of the pool from the shallow end return; there is nothing directly under the shallow end return and nothing in the deep end of the pool at all by that return. A couple of weeks ago when I noticed the stains it was right around the time my original pump and motor went bad and a new one was installed. Could that have something to do with it? I am just stumped that nothing has worked. I have tried all kind of asorbic acids (vitamin c tabs, lemons, metal stain removers with vitamin C and Jack's stuff) thinking it was an iron stain, but the stains have not even lightened up. Do you have any suggestions of any products that might do the trick? Thanks so much for your help! I have tried things to take out organic stains as well, but kind of ruled that out due to the fact that there are no trees or leaves anywhere in the vicinity of the pool. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I am thinking that this could be one of three things: 1) A stain caused by some chemical that was broadcast and then settled on the floor. 2) A stain caused by something coming out of the returns, 3) A stain caused by organics, like from a tree, Does one of these possibilities seem to fit the pattern? Is the stain pattern below the returns? Even though you water does not show any iron according to the test, I'm thinking that this could be iron that has been oxidized by the salt cell and then it falls to the floor as it exits the returns. Try putting ascorbic acid on the stains again to see if that has any effect. If the stains are organic, then they should go away on their own after a few days with sufficient chlorine.

Thanks for your response.... It is a salt water chlorine generator (added last October with sand change...used baquacil previously) I have used the same chemicals since with no changes....they are: USA brand muratic acid Regal brand alkalinity, calcium, etc. Aqua Salt brand salt All chemicals are added directly to the water....water is tested weekly through a computer analysis system. Reading: Chlorine - 3 PH - 7.4 Alkalinity - 70 Calcium - 230 Salt - 2800 (little low, but good when stains first appeared 2 weeks ago) Iron - 0 Copper - 0 Temperature - 87

....forgot to mention the stains are orangish/brown and rust-like in color, but again the stain identification brought up nothing.

I have a vinyl lined inground pool with white fiberglass steps. Problem.....A few weeks ago I discovered spray-like speckled spots all over the stairs and on the bottom of the liner on the left hand side of the shallow end. I have tried everything (Jack's Magic stain identification - nothing, Jack's Magic stair stuff - nothing, vitamin C tabs - nothing, stain crystals in a sock - nothing, RMS stain remover - nothing, magic eraser - nothing) The stains are not even lightening up! The stains on the stairs will lighten up when scratched with the tip of a knife, but there are hundreds of small speckles. The pool companies are out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do or try? Or maybe what my next steps should be? Any bit of help would be greatly appreciated......Thanks!

A couple of months ago I had a small leak in my older Eclipse Dream Maker spa, so I emptied it and had a tech come out and reseal everything. I filled it back up and it was good for a few days then it began to leak again. Since then, I bought the leak sealer in a bottle and put it in myself according to directions. The leak stopped, the water was emptied, filled back up, reheated, and still no leak. Then I put chemicals in (bacquaspa 1-2-3.) Not 10 minutes later, the spa started to leak again. My question....Is there something in the bacquaspa chemicals that is causing the sealant to dissolve and causing my leak again? If so, what can I do? I know there is quite a bit of controversy over bacquacil products, but they have always worked well for me. Any suggestions? Thanks.......

I put in an inground liner pool 2 years ago (sand filter)....not knowing too much about them (other than I wanted one), I was recommended to use bacquacil chemicals. I have not had any problems at all. In fact, I love them. They are easy to use, the water is always clear, no harsh smells. I thought the chemicals were awesome, until....I started reading about them. I have read a lot of negative things about them lately, not all, but some. I just don't know who or what to believe. I don't mind paying the higher prices for something that has been working for me, but I just don't know what to think. Any opinions? Does anyone anything about EZpool chemicals? They have been recently recommended and I was told my pool coud be converted....no problem. I just don't want to make a mistake and regret it when things are running so smoothly with the bacquacil right now. Also, I have an older Dream Maker spa I recently purchased at a great price. I also started it with Baqua Spa chemicals. To me, it's good stuff. Any input would be greatly appreciated......Thanks.

I bought an older dream maker spa about a month ago at a reasonable price. It works great and I have it sitting on the original concrete slab poured outside my sliding glass door. Knowing that the slab is at a slight slant away from the door (not visible to the eye), I have a small puddle of water each day coming from underneath the spa in the front (back of spa faces the house.) It is not leaking down the sides coming from the cover that I know of. It looks like it is coming from the bottom. There is more water the colder it is and less water the warmer it is. Help? Is it a small leak from the piping or just consensation? Note: This has been going on for a few weeks and I have not filled the spa nor has the water line dropped significantly. Thanks in advance.....

I have reset the breaker, I think! The outdoor outlet works for other things I have plugged into it, just not the hot tub. That is why I was thinking something happened to the tub. Any other ideas? It is just frustrating! Who do I call? HELP..........

You can't plug a 110 volt spa into an extension cord unless it's a very heavy extension cord and it is plugged into the right outlet, a dedicated 20 amp outlet. You probably didn't do any damage to the tub. But you need a dedicated 20 amp 110 volt outlet to plug the spa into. And if you need an extension cord make sure it is the same size as the cord on the tub and as short as possible. After doing a bit of reasearch...I know that now. I didn't originally plug it into the outlet beacuse it had a cover on it (outlet) and the "box" on the cord didn't fit. After removing the cover and plugging it in the outlet directly, the spa still did not work. The outdoor extension was the same size as the tub cord, but fairly long. Any ideas from here? Thanks.

Ok...so I know nothing about spas. I bought a used dream maker escape for a good price last week. Got it up and running.....last Saturday it shut off and has not worked since. Mistake? I plugged it into an extension cord...now I know, oops! At least, I think this is the problem. The light on the GFCI cord does not come on anymore. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem? What did I mess up and what will it cost me to repair? Do I get a spa repairman or an electrician to come and look at it? Any advice would be great.....I'm new at this. Thanks in advance.
