Well I'm kind of glad we didn't even get a hole. It would have been even a bigger mess to deal with! Thank goodness the timing was such that I had not advanced him any more funds, although he had called and made arrangements to dig the hole the next week, and to collect the largest portion of the funds. Small comfort, but nonetheless .... I agree, I believe he was collecting from me to perhaps keep something else afloat. Who knows. He has certainly soured my view of contractors as a whole, which is really unfortunate since there are a lot of good ones out there.

Just a warning to those in Southern Ontario - I chose a contractor who claimed to have knowledge of fibreglass pool installation. I checked references, did due diligence on his business dealings, he seemed OK. He was a newly authorized dealer for a very reputable company in this type of pool, but had dealt with and installed other lines of FG pools as well. Due to a number of factors of his own doing, his dealership was terminated by the FG pool company. Unfortunately my money was already out there (in the form of a deposit). I have done nothing wrong, yet he took my deposit and disappeared, after having stated in an email that the deposit would not be returned, due to his trouble. The man did no work for me, he talked a good game and was very self-confident. I felt confident that a reputable pool company was standing behind him. Well, he's gone with my $5600.00, and my only option is to spend more money to sue him in Small Claims Court. Do not use Brad Hunter of Modern Exteriors of Simcoe, Ontario, aka Stampcrete, aka Woodstock Modern Exteriors of Canada. He has our money and feels totally justified in keeping it because he feels it was not his fault he was cut loose by the company he was representing. Buyer Beware!!!!
