  1. So after a great deal of research, we are down to 2 pools - either the Leisure fiberglass pool, morrocan 34 model (would really like the 38 but its out of our price range), and a steel wall vinyl pool. The morrocan measures 15x34 and the steel wall is 18x36. We are still very concerned about the 3ft difference in width, as well as the cost premium for the fiberglass. Everything I have read about this mfg is positive, couldn't find anything negative, and I also really like the installer. Any feedback from fiberglass owners with 15' wide pools? Do you find the smaller widths an issue? We are a family of 4 and I would anticipate the kids friends being in there quite often - concerned there wont be enough room. Feedback is certainly appreciated!
  2. That seems like a good price to me. I live in the Hudson Valley area of NY and have been researching pools as well - your quotes beat anything I have been able to find. What part of NY are you in? What pool company are you using?
  3. I couldnt find there web site. Seems like your price was great - what did it include and how long ago did you get it? The prices I'm getting are considerably higher. I even googled the number and nothing came up
  4. Thanks Brian - I assume you had a fiberglass installed if it was that fast? Are you happy with it? What influenced your decision in selecting your pool type? If you could share I would certainly appreciate it - its hard being brand new to this.
  5. Is he building that pool for you? Would you mind sharing cost? Going to check out there web site now
  6. Thanks Jeff - I appreciate the feedback, in fact the steps are within the pool and I didn't think about that (being new to this), so in addition to the 153 s/f less the steps are also non-usable swimming area - good point thanks
  7. Thanks Todd - I will check it out. We are still investigating and would like to make a decision quickly. We are currently seriously considering a fiberglass pool and a steel wall pool. The fiberglass is by leisure pools and its the elegance 33 model. Its 15x33, this seems somewhat narrow to me, what do current pool owners think? The steel wall is 18x36, will the extra 3 feet in width and length be that noticeable? The benefits of the fiberglass pool that I have been reading are intrigueing but its still all new to me . Its also about 5k more than the steel wall pool. I commute everyday for long hours and i have very little time to maintain the pool so ease of maintainace is important to me. Can you guys give me your thoughts on the 15x33 size? Is it too narrow once the kids are in there playing with there friends? I really appreciate your feedback as this is still all new to me
  8. Hello all! My wife and I are looking at getting our first pool, we are forced to get an inground due to deed restrictions, so we are doing our homework on all types, concrete, steel wall and fiberglass. The idea of the fiberglass is appealling as it seems the easiest to maintain. Is it true that they require less cleaning and chemicals? Anyway, the brand we are currently considering is Leisure Pools, specifically the elegance style, model 33. We like the pool, however from the measurements it seems like it could be long and narrow. The dimensions are 15x33. Does anyone have any experience with this size pool or this mfg? We are concerned that it won't be big enough for our 2 kids and there friends. The other pools that we are considering (concrete and metal) are both 18 x 36, so we are wondering if the 3 ft less in width and lenght are going to be that noticable. Lastly of the 3 types the fiberglass is the most expensive, is it worth the premium? This pool is about 34k. Thank you for your feedback.
  9. Because of budgetary reasons I'm not considering a steel wall inground pool, ami I crazy? Its seems split in hearing good and bad things about them, but it seems much more cost effective. I've never owned a pool before so this is all brand new to me
  10. Thank you for the reply - I will think about the salt generator as a friend of mine expressed the same concerns. As for the Lazy L shape, its just what the wife liked, we could go with a plain rectangle as well, however the cost savings was only 1k. I am really confused as to what pool types are the best and if it is reasonable to get this done for under 40.
  11. Folks - I just found this wonderful forum and want to thank you all in advance for providing a wealth of information. I am still reading through many of the threads. Pool discussions are all very new to me as I have never owned a pool and now at 41 am seriously thinking about getting a pool for my family to enjoy. I have 2 kids, 12 and 9 and can't wait to see the many years of enjoyment they will have with it. First of all I am required due to restrictions get an inground pool, therefore that is where I am starting. I went to a local dealer who is the most respected in the area, and reviewed options for a steel wall, concrete and fiberglasss. The dealer recommendation was for a concrete with vinyl liner pool. They told me that ALL steel pools rust and they try not to sell them They also said that the fiberglass pools were not cost effective and thus pushed me to a concrete pool. Here is what they quoted me (higher than I thought) Lazy L pool 18x34x43 $29,900 (with concrete steps and led light) Salt generator $1,990 Auto Cleaner $999 Safety Cover $1625 Total Cost $34,943 Additionally, stamped concrete decking for roughly 6 ft around pool would be 9,000 and the fence roughly 7,000 for a true total cost of roughly $51,000. This is much more than I wanted to spend. Additionally reading many reviews as well as pros and cons initially I wanted a fiberglass pool but are they really that much more? Is this price in line with what others are paying? I am in the Hudson Valley NY area, are there any other recommended dealers in this area? I really want to do this for my family but I'm afraid that at 51k its just out of range. I was hoping to be completely done with a fiberglass pool and all the necessities for 35k, but I assume this is not realistic? Any guidance would be appreciated
