  1. Dittos Bob. Best to you and your family
  2. I'm very sorry that you're going through this problem, but unfortunately, there is no better answer than that of re-installing the pool, as it's your only viable option....best of luck to you in this process.
  3. Hate to say it Herbert, but it's going to cost quite a bit. Not only do you have to tear out likely most of the patio, but they'll need to replumb and reset(bring in more backfill material, preferably gravel). In most cases, a project like this will cost more than 10k, but it can vary. How out of level is the pool? Does a relevel have to be done?
  4. Rico, good question. Most glass pools go from about 3'-5' or 3'-6'. These are the most common depths of models available to you, and that's because most consumers are looking for a gradual depth in this area (4' all the way across is quite rare). With a 3- 5'or 6' depth, the grade is not such that you feel like you're on a hill. In fact, it's a great depth. Great for jumping in the pool in the deep area or using a slide, but shallow enough to throw a volleyball net across the middle. Thus, go with a gradual depth and I can almost guarantee you it will give you the most functionality and usage. Hope this helps.
  5. Hi Rico, the quick answer to your question is that both companies build a solid pool and have some of the best finishes in the warranty. Regarding installers, Anthony Sylvan does Trilogy and Mark Pedito of Artistic Pools does Leisure in your area. I can't speak for A&S but Mark is a bright guy and a good builder. Either way, best of luck to you in this process and please feel free to contact me directly with further questions.
  6. Price is a tough subject Phil, and a slippery slope at that. I have found pricing in the fiberglass pool industry to be extremely low right now due to the economy. This has lead to a buyer's market (assuming financing is available) but it also means the builder may already be at his rock-bottom. To be frank though Phil, I'm sure Quality would not have made it this long had they been the cheapest guy-- such is impossible. And because this really is a lifetime 'marriage' between you and the builder, finding someone stable, with a tremendous track record, should be your first priority. I do understand that budgets are budgets, but just keep this in mind. If I were you, I'd ask Quality directly regarding their wiggle room. If they say there is none, I'd believe him, and such doesn't mean you're getting a high price. Again, hope this helps a little. Feel free to email me directly if need be.
  7. Hi Phil. I can't speak for Quality, but I can tell you that 30 years of being in business is a long time and says a lot. Pool companies come and go quickly, so with that type of time frame in the biz it's obvious that he's doing things right. Good luck with your install!
  8. Keep your head up Vaughan. I know this can be stressful, but remember that any type of pool, and anything we buy in life(generally speaking), can have some issues. Fact is though, fiberglass pools are gaining huge popularity all over the world because they are most consistently the best inground pool product for one's money. Such a statement may sound like biased opinion, but it's the facts. So please understand you're on the right track. There are some good builders in the Toronto area. It's actually a strong pool market. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly with any questions regarding your concerns.
  9. Hi Hobiecat. Sorry for your dilemma. The pool will be fine, so enjoy it for the rest of the season. General scratches can sometimes be buffed out but what your describing will necessitate the pool being drained. Good luck to you.
  10. Hi PA, hope you are having a good swimming pool shopping experience thus far. If I were you, I'd start with Tril and Leisure. Both good companies, good products, superior gelcoats, and I very much know and respect both the owners. Feel free to contact me personally if you need any advice.
  11. Hi Mom of Boys, it appears you're getting bits and pieces of info here. This is an involved process and it's also a one-shot deal, as you likely already know. I've built our blog to help people just like you to make a sound decision. One thing is for sure, manufacturers and builders will tell you what you want to hear, which is why you need to talk to pool owners directly, no less than 25 references is acceptable in my opinion. Best of luck to you with this process and feel free to email or call me directly with any questions if you're unsure of a manufacturer. Best-
  12. In my opinion their order is as follows, with the top being the best quality product: Sun BH Viking Feel free to go to my blog or contact me directly with any further questions.
  13. Very interesting that you would discuss CSI's identity Dirt Devil considering you don't have one yourself. C'mon man, if you're going to make an argument, at least make a good one.Personally, I find CSI to be one of the most informed people on this forum regarding fiberglass. I don't always agree with him, but the guy certainly knows the business and the product.
  14. Sorry you are having this problem Julie. I've produced quite a few videos on my site for people just like you, so please feel free to check it out. We've got vacuuming videos, opening videos, closing videos, etc. Best of luck to you with your pool.
